I wore my brand new Omega Planet Ocean XL last night to a party. One of my friends moved suddenly in her bar stool to show me her Michael Kors watch, and the back of the metal stool slammed into my watch.

At the time, I thought the watch escaped without a mark. Then today on the way to the store, I noticed what looked like piece of dust on the crystal. It wouldn't rub off. It is a tiny, itt-bitty chip. My stomach turned.

I obsessed about it for a while - have accepted that it is almost impossible to see - and am writing this post to put my mind at rest and move on.

My wife would fit right in on this forum. She said, "hey, now it has some character". I said, "that's pretty much what the guys on the forum would say too."

Happy New Year everyone ! ! !

But the character came from somebody showing you a Michael Kors... that detail right there sucks. You will think of a Michael Kors watch every time you that tiny chip.

Personally, I'd have a hard time getting over that part of it.

Will the AD take mercy on your situation and help you out? Maybe some breaks (no pun intended) on replacing the crystal?

Thats a painful story, and one that I have lived through on a few occasions. It sucks and I know that sickness feeling in your stomach. I hope it is only a scuff on the AR coating like EHV suggests.

Thanks for feeling my pain. It helps. Pretty sure it is an actual ding - - - but I have to scrutinize the dial for a minute to even see it, so I'll live. It is the size of a speck of small dust. I've gone ahead and priced out the Otto Frei replacement kit....again, just to ease my mind knowing that it is an option.

I'd say the seal has broken (you were partying, so maybe that makes some sense), move on, put a few more nicks in the crystal since it's not perfect, and then get it fixed a few years from now. It can be fixed, and you will cherish the fact that it looks brand new/perfect again.
