I am looking at this in the next couple of weeks when the shop confirms it's in. I really cannot wait to see it in the flesh, so much so I even made a list of reason why it might be my gada watch...
  • Sapphire front and back both with AR.
  • Screw down crown
  • Micro crown guards
  • Resistant to; water (200m), shock, magnetism and low-pressure.
  • Sellita is easily serviceable.
  • Sinn decorated and regulated with claimed improved power reserve and operating within COSC accuracy.
  • 20mm lugs
  • Sinn H-Link or Fine-link bracelets
  • Day / Date
  • Countdown bezel
  • White face softens the sporty asthetic
  • Beautiful partnership of German precision engineering and Swiss watch making

Is it just me or do us watch nerds really do have a problem...
We may be a little off kilter; honestly, we're just a just a pinch more passionate about our watches than the average joe, that's all. I like your Sinn a lot. I had the Sinn Arktis 203 (blue dial) and it was incredibly accurate. I still miss that piece.

Well I think that in the US at least the Turnograph is a similar price to the Airking he was looking at. Far above what they used to go for but it is the world in which we live.
This is very true, however, OP stated initially his upper limit was $1000 so.....next case, folks. If it were me, I'd be looking to see if there's a Hamilton, Laco or Longines that struck my fancy. I think I'd probably wind up getting a Laco; they make lots of attractive, quality pieces with ETA movements for $700 or so - definitely under a grand.

New watch day!

Thank you all for the great suggestions.

Today I have taken delivery of a Certina DS PH200m (2020) and I could not be happier 😊

I was apprehensive about the 41mm case size (plus a slight bezel overhang) being too big for my 6 1/2" wrist but i think it seems to fit me well.

For those that were interested about the decision, I was eventually enticed by:
  • Certina brand history
  • Certina Double Security (DS) concept
  • PH200m is a modernised re-issue in 2018 and again in 2020 (introduce in 1967)
  • Value proposition (Ceramic bezel, AR sapphire, ETA Powermatic movement, Certina quality as above, 20mm lugs and vintage design.)
  • MOST importantly, how it made me feel when I tried it on.
I just need to resize the bracelet and I'm good to go!

This is exactly what I was looking for 😍

That's a very good choice; it's like a modern interpretation of the milsub with personality.
