Dubai Watch Week is taking the show on the road to London this year, to bring watch enthusiasts and collectors to a central location which happens to be the birthplace of Greenwich Mean Time.
Dubai Watch Week and Christie’s are hosting discussion panels over two days with leading watch retailers, watchmakers, authors, historians, collectors, brands and industry professionals.  Even though the panels are moderated, there is an open and honest discussion about relevant horology topics.
There are over twenty speakers representing various segments of horology - British watchmaker and master of The Daniels Method, Roger W. Smith; Fiona Krüger, founder and designer of Fiona Kruger Timepieces; Peter Speake-Marin, founder of the online educational forum, The Naked Watch; and Michael Tay, Managing Direction of The Hour Glass group.
Melika Yazdjerdi, Director of Dubai Watch Week and Senior Marketing & Communication Director, Seddiqi Holding stated “London is an important horological market that has a rich heritage in the industry. This edition of the Horology Forum is expected to attract several prominent figures from the community and we look forward to exploring British timekeeping heritage tied in with Christie’s extensive expertise in the world of horology. It is always important to reach new audiences or even old skeptics and bridge the ever-growing gap between the puritans and innovators.”
This year the panel topics range from “Battle of the Soothsayers”, an in-depth discussion on the future of time and the relevance of code to “Cultural Clout – the iBuyer Cult”, where the panel examines the effects of the digital age and the access to information that is linked to watch buying. The final day includes “The Roast” where audience members will ask the panelists Carte Blanche questions on their mind related to watch industry.
The event takes place this week on September 11 th and 12 th at the Christie’s headquarters in London. Horology Forum will also be streamed live on IGTV @dubaiwatchweek where viewers will have virtual access to the panels.  If you are in London and would like to attend the event, please visit Dubai Watch Week website .
