So last night I notice this unusual square come up on a popular global online auction site. I own about 30 watches, 10 of which are G-Shocks. Since I have overspent a bit recently, I can't justify buying another watch. So, I text my friend as he was recently talking about his intention to buy a watch... ...and within a few minutes he had snapped it up (lucky bugger).

I have no idea if the seller uses this forum, but I won't be at all surprised. :)

Anyway, here are some pics that I saved (and cropped). I guess not everyone will agree, but personally I think it looks like the bee's knees. |>

Yep, quite a bit of aftermarket metal bezels (and also resin bezels in funky custom colors) popping up from the east recently, even ones of very nice quality. I wonder how many different manufacturers of such custom parts there actually are. The sellers seem to be very small operations in any case, and don't seem to have gathered a wild following on social media or anything.

I dig the look, and have one as a mainstay on my GW5000:

Nokkaelaein I love the look of yours with the composite bracelet! I won't be surprised if my friend ends up picking up one of those to go with his.

Yeah :), oh btw, in case your friend isn't that much of a "watch enthusiast" (yet) -- I kinda get that impression as you said "he was recently talking about his intention to buy a watch...", I might be totaly wrong, but still -- it's a fair warning that installing the combi on the DW5600/GW5000 can be challenging. As in, it's actually less risky on the GW5000 as you aren't likely to permanently destroy the steel lugs just by pushing a bit hard, but people (even on these forums) have ruined the plastic lugs and bar holes of their 5610/5600 watches when trying to force the combi on. If he hasn't got previous experience with installing springbar/pushpin setups that are this snug, you might want to install the combi for him, or at least advise him to take it easy if he decides to go with one, heh.
