DW-6900 Disassembly Guide (DR FRANKENSTEIN)

I'm looking for a guide on disassembling a DW-6900 and although I believed there was one in the the tutorial section I can no longer find it.

It only needs to be basic as I only intend to swap around the bezels/bracelets and the EL buttons (EL buttons are main concern as i'm not 100% certain on how easily they can be swapped if at all)

If anyone is interested I intend to take the Bezel/bracelet/EL button from a 'DW-6900MS-1' and add it to the Gold Dial from the 'DW-6900CB-1DR'

I then intend to take the bezel/bracelet/EL Button from a 'DW-6900CS-4DR' and add it to the black dial from the 'DW-6900MS-1'

I will then add the remaining silver dial from the 'DW-6900CS-4DR' to the bezel/bracelet/EL button of the 'DW-6900CB-1DR' and sell it to whoever may be interested (unless it looks amazing in which case I shall keep for myself)

Watches in question can be seen alone, let me know your thoughts and any help would be appreciated.

The bezel and strap are easy. Unscrew the 4 screws, care fully take teh bezel off, starting on the side with the adjust button.
Strap is kept in place with springbars which can be removed with a tiny screwdriver or a springbar tool.

To swap the light button, you need patience, aPH size oo scredriver and a good set of tweezers.
Remove caseback, take out the module.
Then you need to remove the c/e clip holding the light button from the inside. Be carweful, when it goes airborne it is most likely lost.
Refitting the clip is possible, although a bit nerve wrecking at times...drink your coffee afterwards, not before. ;-)

I put the button´s bin in and push it through as far that the area with the gap is just visibble. Place the clip witrh the open side facing the pin and push it on with the tweezers or a small flat screwdriver.

Do you happen to know anywhere with a picture tutorial to help in the 'EL button' swaps as I don't want to balls it up?

That's brilliant mate and spot on, was going to try and do this myself but am simply too lazy to try lol. Kudos.

If you want to make some more, I wouldn't mind seeing the 1st* one how it is but with the face from the 3rd*

Also wouldn't mind seeing the 1st* & 2nd* with the face from the picture below.

and the 2nd* with the face and the 'EL button' below.

There are so many combinations I think would look good with that bezel and i'm hoping to make two myself. I need to install photoshop and see what the 2nd best looking one I can make is because im definitely set on the black/gold combo.

I've made a pretty slack mock up myself using paint (2-3 minutes to make before someone mentions quality ;-p)

I swapped EL buttons on an 003 last night and all I can say is it's a .....!! That's one mod I intend to do as little as possible. Sad, too, because I was thinking of dyeing my bezel black and swapping out the grey side buttons for black ones, but I don't think I want to deal with those c rings again anytome soon!

I´ve done some DW 9000 blackout mods by now, all i can say is: keep a few c-rings from a dead G just in case and take your time...the first watch was horrible, now it´s just a bit nerve wrecking when the last ring just does not want to get on... ;-)

I think i'll steer clear of the button mods then as i'm too easily frustrated. I now intend to do the second two mods in the picture below (excuse the crude editing, I didn't swap the black side buttons either because I think you get the idea with just the face)

And does anyone know if the metal part (buckle?) of the bracelet can be removed? It looks like its just a pin that needs the tool treatment but thought I would check first. Thanks

On those watches the buckle should be fixed with a spring pin. Just put a needle into the hole to push the pin in and remove the buckle. Beware of flying pins.
