Well I just bought a new watch and now intend to scrap my Spike Lee mod and/or my "stealth"(under the radar) project of restoring a 5600C.

Found out that pacparts(Casio parts distributor) had a bunch of parts available for the 5600C-1V readily available in a week or so...I'm guessing that Casio Japan or their parts distributors there(whoever pacparts buys their parts from) might be cleaning out the shelves and getting rid of these like they did with the 5600 bullbars/face protectors...of course we all know what happened with the discontinued production of those.

So emailed them trying to sneak thru to get a plain Japan-stamped caseback for the 5000-1JF ('00-'01release) with the intentions of making my own personal frankenshock-G '09 DW-5000(-)-SL :-d. What can I say, I hate the SL branding.

That was a "fail" so said why not go to my grail G???...get a 5600C and make it as close to perfect as I can on the outside. So after much searching and visiting pacparts, casiosalesandservice and neverminding that hard to navigate "other" Casio parts distributor on the East Coast, I finally found them on pacparts...emailed them and got this:(edited the personal info for privacy)

"The case center comes with the buttons and the glass crystal. The back cover is the metal piece on the back.
Thank you

Subject: Replacement parts for watch...???

Hi thanks for the reply.
Well, I've got another project in progress. I've got basic questions for a couple more different parts that I probably didn't see the first time around.
These items:
1) item no. 75602163 "case center":
Is this the case center assembly that includes the buttons and the glass crystal already fitted into it? The replacement glass crystals aren't available but these case centers might have them so if you could shed some light on this item, I'd be very grateful.
2) item no. 74077048 "back cover":
Is this the metal screwback case cover?
I've got an old DW5600C "project watch" sitting in a drawer somewhere because of the cracked crystal, and the screwback case cover is just as stripped at the notches as the DW-5000-1JF I inquired about below. I want to restore both watches but as you said for the DW5000-1JF, those particular parts aren't available.
Well, I'm hoping for better luck for these 2 items for the DW5600C...So thanks again for any info you can provide.
x.x.

Subject: Replacement parts for watch...???

Hi, good day. I'm writing to see if PacParts could order a couple of Casio G-Shock parts for me that I couldn't find listed on your website. My watch is a Casio G-Shock DW-5000-1JF (year 2001).
I need a replacement metal back cover (caseback) for my Casio G-Shock DW-5000-1JF...it has been stripped, damaged and scratched in many places when I tried to open it with a case opener. My watch model was a reissue made in 2001 and "is not" compatible with the older 1983 DW5000 parts. Could you guys check to see if you can order this for me and what is the price.
Also, can you check to see if you can order one of the "case center assembly" for this same model, DW-5000-1JF (year 2001). If this is not available, that's okay... but I really need a new metal case back cover (caseback) or probably even two pieces just in case my case opener slips again.
Thanks for any assistance/information you may provide.
x.x."

Well restorers, here's your chance...if you want, be my guest and contact them yourselves. Their CSR's are quick to reply, considering how others operate, and this isn't livechat or over the phone so the response was fast in my book. Sent the email at night and got the replies just around afternoon the next day.
Here's the link: http://www.pacparts.com/model.cfm?C...w_start=1&src_model_id=5600c&action=list_part

Shipping isn't that good seeing how others send out UPS/FedEx/USPS for about $7-9 or even free and then there's California tax for us in Cali. But, of course, remember these are VERY hard to come by. And please, dealers/ebayer's save some for the regular folks out here...it sucks you guys buy it and then resell it like it was some sort of golden nugget.

Re: D'ya need a 5600C crystal, case and caseback?

tirat,

This is great information! I've already called and they are checking into it for me. I have two 5600C's that are in need of some TLC, and this is just what the doctor ordered.

Thanks again!

Re: D'ya need a 5600C crystal, case and caseback?

Thanks for this awesome tip! I have a 5600 that I was restoring. I was polishing the crystal when it cracked - Doh! Now I will be able to bring it back to new condition. The only carryover parts will be the module and the caseback. The

Bad news! I heard back from Loretta and told me that they had been discontinued it and that there are none left. I really had high hope for this, as I said I have two that re ready to be restored. So, I'm still open to new leads.

Sorry to hear that MET...I just checked their website and they still have it listed there still. That sucks. I swear, that if they had these still available early on and someone or a couple of ebay merchants bought them...#$^(*&$($% !!!

But if there were some left and some peeps from the 190+ views on this thread got them, at least we'll be seeing a few clean 5600C pieces.
And if they didn't have any from the beginning...then that's just as messed up as the ebay sellers who usually hoard the more limited(such is the case for these pieces if there were any left), great deals out there.

Honestly, I felt like if I had gotten someonelse when I called I could have walked away with what I needed. As it is I had to wait four days for her to confirm that the part number exisited. Of course by then they were all gone. I could be way off base here but that's just the way I feel.

I've had similar experiences with pacparts, thinking I was getting a much needed part (fisherman bezel) but the part received was different. In short , they are a company specializing in many different electronics brands and thousands of different parts. They aren't always up to speed with inventory stock or the specifics of the parts they carry. Although IIRC they didn't always have the 5600C case listed as a part, so maybe they really had a few??

I have had similar experience with Pacparts, but the reason is not because of the person.

The real reason is because the parts were never available anyway.

Pacparts keeps only a few Casio items in their warehouse--instead, when a customer places an order, they order the parts from Casio USA, wait for the parts to arrive at their facility, and THEN ship the items to you. Fortunately, they do not charge ANY markup.

And as far as I can tell, Loretta is one of the people who works on Casio parts at Pacparts. Must be a "specialist" or something. But realize that NOBODY at Pacparts can give you a part that Casio does not sell.

Their website uses an inventory system that is seriously broken. The only items that Pacparts has is marked as "IN STOCK." If an item is marked as "5-7 days," that means they have to call Casio for the part. MANY items that Casio has discontinued are still marked as "5-7 days" on Pacpart's website, but of course there is absolutely no chance that you will ever get them. Their inventory system errors persist even DECADES after the part is discontinued from Casio. I don't blame them, the size of their inventory database must be HUGE.

In fact, order the parts from Casio and you'll get them faster AND save on shipping costs. You will never ever find a part on Pacparts that you cannot order directly from Casio. The only reason to order from pacparts is the convinience of an on-line ordering form.

Halfapie,

Guys, vintage replacement parts for the early G-Shocks - the DW-5XXX models - are long gone. I know that G-Shock collectors contacted Casio parts centers around the world years ago and cleaned them out. It'll be a rare stroke of luck if you find anything other than the usual replacement bands and bezels (square only) and the Philips head bezel screws.

There's no official Casio Parts website...but most of us have dealt with them by calling the official 800# for the Casio USA Parts Dept at 1-800-223-2001 ...this number has been posted a few times already from "wear to buy frogman bezel/strap" and the "sticky post above for casio parts" and in Riley's G-Shock wiki at mygshock.com .

Nope, Casiosalesandservice is a 3rd party seller already as only PacParts and AmericanPerfit are the authorized parts distributors according to the "Buy Parts" section of the Casio USA website here: http://www.casio.com/support/buyparts/ .

But like halfapie said, you may want to contact the official Parts Dept thru that number to get you the best deal and/or availability. While you're at it, you might as well buy all the bezels/straps, gaskets, springbars and bezel screws for your recent Limited Ed keepers because they may be harder to come by as they're being hoarded by wis enthusiast and some ebay sellers. 5600LC Orange bezel 6.50, strap 18, shipping 4.95 but I get an order total 30.47. What gives??? Are they in Cali? There's no mention of tax or handling fee from the CSR.

Anyways that order was cancelled, two weeks wait just to get them in, not shipped out and received by me. Might as well make plans for a diff Frankenshock with whatevers out there in-stock.
