Esteemed watchmakers,
My watchmaker (Montana Clock Shop, in Los Angeles) has been trying to find a crystal ring for my 1970s Pontiac Memomatic (see below).

The issue is that when he finds a ring that will fit tight with the crystal and allow it to seal, it disrupts the movement of the inner bezel.

When he uses a ring that allows the inner bezel to turn, the crystal won't seal.

I've done as much web research as possible, including trying to get an answer from the modern incarnation of Pontiac, to no avail. I can't seem to find specs on the ring.

Any thoughts? I love this watch and would love to have it seal to 3ATM (just so I can wash my hands with it on).

Many thanks in advance!

Generally, The crystal and the ring come as one. Finding a replacement correct crystal for a watch like this can be challenging. From the G-S crystal manufacturers is the ST, Step-Tite series of crystals where the base of the ring has a cutaway step that may provide clearance for the internal rotating bezel. These crystals are available up to 34.5 mm in steps of 0.1 mm. Tell your watchmaker to check his G-S catalog.

Thanks so much for the advice! I'm passing this message to him now....
