First I new to this forum. I have a close friend who is a very active member and suggested I post my question here. He has done a fair amount of research on it, and keeps hitting a dead end with the serial #.

I have an old Elgin pocket watch. He was unable to find or match any information on the serial number.

The watch is in beautiful condition. No smudge marks from use or any damage. Basically for it's age pristine.

The following is what I know about the watch:
Elgin

Warranted
B&B
20 Years
620296

class 303
7J Movement

You can also contact me directly through the following e-mail address:

Thank you very much for any help:thanks

At first glance it appears that you are attempting to use the case serial number. You need to use the the serial number from the movement. The article and reference section at the top will give you directions on how to open the case and a link for looking up the serial number.
