Experience w/ Sizzlin Watches?

Hi all,

I've been smitten by a GMT master II homage, and it seems like sizzlin watches has a lovely one on their website as well as a few in the FS section via tcolluci. I was wondering if any of you have purchased said watch and what your experience with it has been like. I was originally looking at a helenarou homage, but i read a lot of negative comments about their movements being the farthest thing from real ETA mov'ts, as they are mostly 2836-2s modded to take a gmt hand.

I guess my main questions are:
what is the quality of the watch?
where do they ship from/how quickly does it arrive?
does it keep decent time? (obviously i'm not expecting cosc standards lol)

I've been digging through the submariner homage thread and there hasn't been much by way of GMT watches specifically, but I will keep looking through it for other options as well.

look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks!

I'm also interested in knowing. Their sterile submarine homage looks promising. Seems they use a sea-gull movement.
They likely use the same source as manbushijie, however being in the states I suspect quality control is far superior. I own the Sterile submariner from a chinese source, it's a GREAT watch for the price.

Their Ticino's branded watches look seriously promising.
Don't know about their GMT watch, but have
Dealt with sizzlin watchs. Got a Ticino pilot
Watch, very good quality, Miyota movement
shipped from Florida, received in Texas three
Days after payment. Very pleased with all
Aspects of the deal. Hope this helps.
I'd like to know the quality of their GMT sub as well. I've always wanted a GMT diver, but I never looked hard enough to find a seller with a good, affordable product. If the GMT hand is a true 24hr hand, I'd be very pleased
Thanks everyone! Dave and AsAnAtheist, thank you for clearing up where they're coming from. The fact that I don't have to wait for shipping from HK or elsewhere is a huuuuuge relief for me. FL to NJ will probably be about 2-3 days as well, so that's great! I don't think I can pass up a 40mm true GMT w/ an auto mov't for $115. Especially with free shipping. I'll probably pull the trigger later today. I'll keep ye informed.

Thanks again!

edit: @jaffar, i just noticed what you had posted. From what it looks like, it actually appears to be an independent "true" gmt hand and not a locked 24hr hand.
I've bought a few different pieces from them (not the one you are after, however) and quality has been good on all. On top of that customer service was excellent on all transactions, which is a plus.
Thanks for the reply! Those watches you picked up are stunning! Love the macros of the chrono mov't in the big pilot :D

I'm so glad that this seems to be quite the reputable company. He posts often in the FS thread, but there's not much that has been said about him/the company, so this is great for me and for others, I'm sure.
Based on the replies in this thread, I just ordered the 40mm sterile GMT sub. With hopes I'll have it in the next few days and I'll be able to give a bit of an impression. That Ticino chronograph looks damn fine too...

Please let us know how it is, I'm very curious.

You can count on it! I'll probably post an individual "review" (not sure if I even want to call it that) and we'll go from there :D

Only bummer was that it said "free shipping" but that didn't turn out to be true. It was only $3.50, so I guess I can't really complain.
Just a bit of an update: received an email today informing me that the watch I ordered is out of stock, but will be ready in 10 days. He offered me the opportunity to wait on it or a full refund on the purchase price, so I opted to wait, as I want the watch hah. I'm already pleased with the communication and his obvious intent to put the customer's wishes first.

Will keep you all posted...

Well, unfortunately, as of a week ago, I was told that my watch would be on hand and shipped by the weekend (3/30-4/1) but no word yet. I have sent another email asking for an update on availability and asked for a refund if it is not in stock.

Needless to say, I'm kind of bummed :(
Doubly unfortunately, the watch is still out of stock (I assume), as I had received a refund notification from paypal. I'm quite pleased that there were no questions asked with regards to the full refund. I would have liked an email from SW offering an apology or something, but the refund works just as well.

I'm bummed they didn't have my watch, but I'm quite pleased with the level of customer service. I guess the hunt continues for a sterile GMT...
Six months ago I ordered Glide Lock Bracelet, but I have never received it. Sizzlin Watches are ignoring me since January 2013. Great customer service. :\
I think I've eaten at Sizzler .Could you post a link or Pm me? It does not have to be hot as long as it works.

Did you pay in the stone currency of the Yap Islanders? Dispute the charge and get your money back.
i wouldn't hesitate to buy from them based off what i've read on here. only problem is the watch i'm interested in is out of stock. i emailed the guy who sales them here and he said it would be in stock in 3 weeks. that was 6 weeks ago...

I recently bought a Ticino 44mm Pilot Type A (June 2013) on ebay from sizzlinwatches and found out that the minutes in the dial are not lumed which is not as described in the listing. See pictures for comparison. Look my watch is different (interms of lume which is less intense and minutes without lume). Did anyone purchase 44mm pilot type A watch from sizzlinwatches? I would like to know their feedback whether their watch is same as mine because Rob said my watch is from the recent stock (2013) whereas asot's watch was from last year (2012). Can anyone verify? I appreciate your replies guys. Thanks.

I had a great experience with them and a co-worker has bought multiple watches from them - thumbs up all around.
