Finally snagged one!! Sinn U2 Solebox edition

Have been on the hunt for several months for this rare gem. Ever since owning my first Sinn, this one has been on my radar. Picked up the U1, then the U2S, and now the U2 solebox edition! 10 made I believe. Very stealthy but legible even in low lights (to my youthful eyes of course) :-d

So did you grab the one on eBay? Good grab and enjoy
You know it. Too good to pass up.
That is a great collector Sinn! Well done! Cheers, Bill P.
Hi there. I am Hikmet from Solebox.
Congrats to the watch. But it seems, that this one is not a real one. Maybe you can make better pics especially of the dial, where you can see the solebox logo clear. And from the bezel, the luminous "dot".
Any packaging with the watch?
Hopefully I am wrong. I do not want to disturb your happiness.
Welcome back to WatchUSeek Hikmet.

I hope this is not the case but if anyone would know it would be the co-owner of Solebox, Mr. Hikmet Sugoer.

Is your serial number 1020.0028? Another tell is if it has an ETA 2836 clone movement.

Thank you Sir for the welcome.
I do not want to give fake industry the possibility to sell to honest collectors fakes. This one is sadly not the real one. Michael was so nice and sent me some more pics.
If anybody in the forum gets one offered, feel free to send me a message and I tell you the points to check if fake or not. The reason I am not posting it here is that fake industry is not sleeping.
wow Mr.Hikmet, its so very kind of you to contribute to legitimate business so actively..I am truly not only impressed but owe you the gratitude of every reader of these forums and every individual who does not believe in fakes..thank you very sincerely

regards,
Wow! That absolutely sucks. I hope you can get this all straightened out and get your money back, mdhorner. And thanks to Solebox!
As Hikmet said, this one turns out to be a dud. Bummed does not even describe my feelings. Back to the drawing boards I guess. Hope it all works out.

Thanks again Hikmet!
I'm a little surprised to see a replica of such a rare model from a small company: I've seen reps of sinns in the past, but this surprises me.
sheesh, sure looks legit to me... bummer, mdhorner17, that really sucks... I'm also shocked that someone would bother to knock these off... but whomever did it did one heck of a job... again, sure looks like the real deal to me... would love to see comparos of the real vs fake...

hope u get it all straightened out...
cheers,
Peter
WOW!!! that stinks... hope you get your refund.

Watch collecting is really getting scary.

If you do a Google search using "Solebox replica" as your search criteria you'll find far more sites selling these fakes than the number of watches (10) that were built by Sinn. It's really quite sickening.
I'm sorry to hear. That stuff takes all the fun out of the game. I'm right now is Istanbul, Turkey, and went to the Grand Bazar, one of the main tourist attractions...It is amazing what fakes are out there, but at least I haven't seen any Sinn. But this is exactly the reason why I'm not in Rolex or even Omega anymore. It is very very difficult to tell what's real and what's not, at least on the first glance and if you are not an expert. And just for the records...I didn't buy anything!!!
Again...sorry to hear!!
^Ya almost every guy in Istanbul has a Sub on their wrist.

Anyhow, I'm ridiculed on the situation you're on now, Mike.

I'm just flabbergasted that even a special edition Sinn took a hit, I would understand if it's a Rolex, Omega or another hi-end brand.
I hope you can resolve this.
yes some side by sides would be good to see all of us legit Sinn shoppers

A side by side picture would also let the conterfeitters know where they are going wrong though.

The big replica factories already have the originals in hand, and tear them down, then replicate them part by part. In fact many parts are interchangeable with originals. Its big business, and they take it seriously. Then they put the original back together and sell it off on a forum or auction site. The standard U1 replica is one of the most indistinguishable replicas out there, almost impossible to tell from real. I was amazed when I saw it in person and compared it to my genuine U1. VERY scary. I use one of the major replica sites as a reference tool when i'm buying genuine watches off the forums, just to check serial numbers and details, to make sure i'm not the next victim.

Not too long ago, I watched an auction on the bay for a Ploprof 1200m, a clear fake to me, as it had the typical replica serial number and a few other minor "tells". I reported it to eBay and also alerted the seller (100% over 300 feedbacks) it was fake (in case he didn't know). He replied with rude and insulting emails, stating that he had it checked by an authorized dealer etc etc. Ebay didn't pull the auction, and some poor guy somewhere paid $5K for a $250 replica. He might never know until it stops running and he takes it in for service in 2 or 3 years. Makes me sick to think about it.
