Fine tuning a bracelet that lacks micro adjustment?

Good morning! I’ve got a GS SBGJ263 and I love the bracelet, but I’m really having trouble dialing it in. With that last half link removed it feels nice and snug at first, but my wrist is sore and achey by the end of the day. When I throw the half link back in. The bracelet is so dangly and jangly and the watch slides around everywhere that I feel ridiculous. Is there any solution to this? A small shim I can put on the clasp or something? Advice appreciated!

This might be a solution for you. I hope they make a titanium version as I have the same watch as you, but in Ti. The Ti links use push pins, not screws.

If @sabasisty has a correct flowchart for you to follow, the "half" links may be a slight amount longer than half the distance of a "full" link. And sometimes it necessitates using 2 "half" links to replace one "full" link because two half links are actually longer than one full. Sometimes you may need three half links. You get the fine tuning you desire when you can do this with a bracelet, but it can be confusing to SA's and to owners and it may require equipment to move links and you may need to buy an additional half link. In your case maybe remove one full link and replace it with two half links.

If it's too loose with the half-link, try removing a full link and adding in the second half-link back in. So adjusting in increments from too tight (if you have in all full links) it goes change out a full link to two half links. If still too tight, then change out one half-link to a full link. If still too tight, then change out the other half-link to a full link. If still too tight, change out a full link to two half-links, etc., etc. (although you should have already gotten it dialed in by then).

I have a similar issue, but for me, it's because I've lost a lot of weight and now most all my bracelets are too loose. It's a pain to remove links from GS bracelets that have screws on both sides of the link. I am considering replacing the bracelet with a leather strap which is more easily sized. Today, I'm wearing a Hamilton Khaki Field Titanium with a leather strap that I probably haven't worn for 3 years just because I want it to fit snug.

Sizing the bracelet also has to do with how you set the clasp. If you are trying to center the outer visible portion of the clasp to the center of your wrist, you're doing it wrong and will have a bad fit.

You center the folding portion (unseen when on wrist) centered on your wrist, as it will fit the natural curve of the wrist. This will put the visible outer portion of the clasp off center, but this can change the fit of the bracelet around 2-3 mm. Try this before you start looking elsewhere.

Any clips of this? Having trouble visualizing what you mean

Never had an issue with finding a comfortable fitment on any of my GS and they all have bracelets. In one or two cases I had to play more like the links/halflinks or repartition of link on each side but always ended up with a confortable fit.

I think people with issue and screaming for on the fly clasp microadjustment wear their watch tight ?

Strange to read people saying "it's always been an issue with this brand". What issue ??? more like an issue with the way you wear your watches.

Sometimes it's constructive for people to stop themselves and ask "Is this helpful or am I just asserting my superiority for no reason?"

Anyway... Yes, it's been an issue for years. Yes, people's wrist diameters can vary slightly from hour to hour. Yes, many people have sold their GS pieces in anger over it and lost a lot of money.

A small shim I can put on the clasp or something? Advice appreciated!
I use silicone about the size of a quarter. The type of thing you put under glass table tops that rest on wood (although 3M thick double sided tape works good too).

But the 44GS and 62GS cases look amazing on a good strap. THat is my prefered solution. I only use the bracelet on non 44/62GS watches.

Can anyone explain to me why people don't complain about this issue with straps. On all of my strap watches, the space between holes is either the size of a full link or perhaps bit more than a half link of my watches that have bracelets. None of my strap watches have any ability to micro-adjust.... as I suspect most others don't. Why do people only complain about bracelets in this regard?

When I wear my strap watches, I literally never need to loosen to the next hole... so am trying to understand why people so often want this ability on watches with bracelets?

I tend to agree, but you live in a climate where there's not large temperature changes season to season.

Apparently some people have their wrist swell exercising or when it is hot.

Glad you got it to work for you. it can be a pain to find the right size on the GS.

Never could get my GS bracelet to fit, even with the help of experts. Ditched it for straps.

Because there are different options possible to get a better fitment that you can't do with bracelets.

1. Try different length buckle/tang.

2. Use a deployant clasp to get a different fit.

3. Punch a hole in between the holes you usually use that are either too tight or loose.

When I wear my strap watches, I literally never need to loosen to the next hole...
Must be nice. I have punched a hole in most of mine (see #3 above)

Yep- sure is nice. I just set them up and then don't worry or adjust anything, straps and bracelets the same. 5 degrees C, or 40C- still the same. Didn't realise this was such an issue for others.

I don't think it's wrist swell for me, moreso that 90% of straps seem to be punched the same way with holes 5-7 mm apart.

If the punch was offset 3mm then one of the holes would be perfect without me having to punch another in between.

I'm also wondering if wearing slightly snug actually CAUSES wrist swell from constriction, kinda like leaving a rubber band around your finger blows it up the longer you leave it.
