So after wanting this watch for 8 months, I finally ordered one. It's a Seiko Prospex GMT SUN023. So this watch adds two new things to my collection:
1) First Seiko
2) First GMT
Aside from just liking the look, I think that it also has a very distinctive look that is definitely an original seiko design. I have to say that I am very impressed by the build quality AND the detailing of the watch. I was also struck by all the attention Seiko paid to using this watch for diving in the manual---going as far as putting a disclaimer in the instructions about death or serious injury if the watch isn't used properly for diving. Let's just say that even my Omega SMP doesn't go into nearly the same level of detail about it's ability to be used during diving.
The second photo points out several small details about the watch strap that I really like. All of the clasps are high strength metal of significant thickness. I was most surprised to see that the strap loop (?)/retainer is metal and not rubber, like is the case with most rubber straps I've seen. I love that the hour markers are raised and give a 3D appearance when looking at the watch from an angle.
It's a great watch that I would recommend to anyone who like dive watches.
