So, the habit has hit me hard this year and I made what I'd call my first real horological purchases. I first dipped my foot into the glorious fountain earlier this Spring with the Ball Fireman Victory. This was followed by the Hamilton Jazzmaster Open Heart and most recently the Stowa Flieger. I absolutely adore the Ball - it can be worn in most any situation I find myself - from formal to the beach.
I am in love with the Stowa. Its inherent quality mesmerizes me and I find myself staring at that dial and long second hand probably more often than I should while at the office.
I still like the Hamilton, though for the price (similar to the Stowa, less than the Ball) I am finding it to be a step below the other two. With that much of the movement showing, Hamilton should have done more to decorate the movement. If they had, that piece would be a standout. I will probably sell this soon. If anyone is interested, feel free to send me a message.

I'm interested to see what other relatively new WIS purchased for themselves this year. What watch spoke to you so that you had to have it? I truly feel that if I were to lose the Ball or the Stowa for any reason, I would lose a part of me along with it. Watch Analog watch Watch accessory Fashion accessory Strap

Excellent pieces you have there. Your collection looks to be well thought out and well rounded so far. If the Hamilton isn't doing it for you, you shouldn't have much trouble getting rid of it around here, as there are many fans of that style.

My one and only major purchase this year was my Omega Seamaster 300m 2254.50. This was also my first, what I would consider, major watch purchase ever, as up to my Omega I had really only ever had fairly inexpensive Japanese watches. I chose this piece because, ever since the first time I saw it, I loved it and thought it looked better than the more common "Bond" Seamaster, and knew I had to eventually own one. I'm having trouble uploading a picture of mine, but this is from Omega's website:

Digging your Ball and the Stowa. Beauties!

Not my first purchases, but I know how you feel when a watch moves you.

These are the three I had to have in the last 8 months. I love the looks of each of them and do not think they will go up for sale, but I'd never say never as I'm chasing a grail right now.

Nice collection OP. If the Hammy doesn't grow on you then you ought to be able to sell it with ease here.
I don't want to make any unwise decisions, but I can always put the proceeds to next year's purchase... I am thinking Sinn at this point... I love the 556A and was strongly considering it earlier this year - I am glad I went with the Stowa first though as I love just about everything about it. The other Sinn I'm looking at is the 856S on the silicone strap.

Hmmm I think I know which grail you're talking about

I just got word last night that Movado is done repairing my Ebel and it'll be back tomorrow... then I have to decide what to do with it.

As to this thread... this year has been very busy for me. But I think I'll declare 2 tremendous home runs in terms of watches.

The first... my precious... my baby... my Montblanc TwinFly Flyback.

And the second has to be my Magrette Moana Pacific Pro. This watch is amazing, and I still can't believe it cost less than $600.

You made three great choices there! I have considered both the Stowa Flieger and the Hamilton myself. That Ball is very versatile. Congrats on your collection!
