I'm interested in a local used watch. It appears to be a flat lug speedmaster with an extremely patina'd dial. But, the dial says Omega Speedmaster Professional....

This is my first foray into vintage speedies....

Does such a beast exist or is this a frankenwatch?

The owner doesn't remember when he bought it but says in the 60's. According to him he stopped wearing it in 1976...

Lastly, the watch is not in working condition. I haven't seen the movement to see the damage. Not sure if it's a 321 or 861 movement.... How serviceable are older Speedies? I recall that they were hard to service because of lack of parts...

Thanks guys.

By flat lug, do you mean straight lug without the crown guards? If so, it should not have "professional" on the dial. As for servicing, ability to service and price will depend a lot on if it's a 321 or 861. Do you have any pictures?

caveat emptor... i'm guessing you are in the bay area and that watch has been posted for a week or longer with some fishy issues.
