Hi there,

has anyone ever met the master mark XG (maybe XC) with a star on top, as on top left in this photo:



I found it in a gold watch made in Paris about 1770. It was likely no completely unknown goldsmith, since he had a guilloche machine, and the case is of top quality. I browsed the common sources without result, but hopefully someone noticed it by accident.

Hi Emre,

as mentioned it might be a C with exaggerated serif instead of a G. But I've still no clue about the meaning.
