OVERVIEW
Up for sale is a 2020 Zenith Chronomaster El Primero with a lovely silver sunray dial, a larger 42mm case, and the Zenith El Primero caliber 400B automatic movement ticking inside. While the El Primero has mostly been made in its original 38mm size throughout the years, Zenith decided to release a standard issue tri-color EP in a larger, more contemporary 42mm case in 2013. Versions with a blue dial and a gray dial soon followed, each featuring a different take on the iconic tri-color design. These larger watches all featured a more spacious dial with a less controversial date window placed at 6 o’clock instead of the traditional 4:30 position. For those with larger wrists, and larger tastes, the 42mm Primero was a godsend and continues to be sought after especially now that this size has been discontinued from Zenith’s catalog.
CONDITION
This Chronomaster El Primero is in excellent overall condition. The unpolished case shows light signs of wear with some hairlines and few small nicks on the case sides. The silver sunray dial is in excellent condition and the sapphire glasses on case front and case back are clean and scratch-free. The dark brown alligator strap is in great condition with minimal signs of wear and fraying. All functions including the crown-winding, time-setting, date-setting, and chronograph start/stop/reset are working as expected. The movement is running within 5 seconds per day and has great readings on the timegrapher.
