Offering up my Ball Engineer Master II Magneto S, one of the coolest offerings from Ball Watch in a long time, as it offers a distinctly different approach to the modern anti-magnetic timepiece such as those offered by Rolex and Omega.

The bezel of the watch actually operates an iris-style shield that opens and closes over the movement. Ball calls this system "A-PROOF" and it is wicked cool. The iris is composed of a metal that Ball actually created called "Mumetal" that is far superior in shielding the movement than the traditional soft iron shields the majority of companies use. (In the pics below, you can see it fully closed, partially open, and fully open. A window below the crown allows you to tell if the cover is open or closed without removing it from your wrist.)

The watch is simply gorgeous in its understatement. It has a no-nonsense tool watch look to it, yet the quality of the construction and the engineering scream that it is a super high quality timepiece. The overall design is rather military and retro inspired. The best comparison I can make to the design is a vintage Blancpain diver.

Like all of Ball's watches, it features tritium tubes on the hands and hour markers, in addition, the bezel glows brightly as well. The visibility is exceptional in any lighting condition, making it a truly 24 hour, any situation, timepiece. AR coating makes the crystal almost disappear!

The watch is on a vintage tropic dive strap, which totally fits with its DNA. Also included is a brown leather strap with generic deployant clasp that gives a very nice "safari look" to the watch. Original cordura strap has been lost to time...
