Hello!
I have up for sale, another watch that I never thought that I would put up for sale. The rare Rolex GMT-Master 16750 transitional model, matte dial, serial number 71XXXXX, circa 1981!
Purchased as a present to my self, this is my birth year watch, as the serials place this as manufactured in 1981. Purchased from a highly respected member of the R forums, I am listing it here first, as there is more traffic generated here. If you are interested in finding out who this person is, I still keep in touch with him, and he has graciously said that he is willing to speak with anyone who has questions on purchasing this watch, but ONLY to serious buyers. If interested, PM me.
I think this watch is famous enough without me having to go into too much detail, but for more detail, please visit the GMT Master History site here and the doubleredseadweller.com site here, which describes the 16750 Transitional GMT-Master, with the matte dials of the old 1675 (only made from 1980/1 to 1985/6), but with the 28,800 A/h high beat 3075 Caliber movement, which had hacking and the date quickset that the 1675 does not.
With the original acrylic crystal and tritium dial, this is the best of both modern and vintage worlds.
As for this watch, it was serviced by a Rolex certified watchmaker in 2013. It is very original; the dial is a matte dial which has an off-white to creme patina, has matching patina hands, red-back bezel insert, "open" 6s and 9s, red-back bezel insert and 78360 Oyster bracelet with 580 end links, "G" code clasp and all 13 links. The case has been minimally polished during it's one service, where the lug chamfers are still clearly visible and show very well. I was told that when the watch was purchased prior to my purchase, it was in a safe queen. The serial number and model numbers are clearly visible between the lugs and the case is free from rust and corrosion and has minimal to no stretch on the bracelet. I will include a brown "keyhole" leather strap, a green Rolex pouch, as well as an aftermarket black GMT bezel insert, included with the sale of the watch.
It is said that watches are not an investment piece, however, this watch is the entry level investment watch!
Priced at $9,000 USD net, via wire transfer only, I will include shipping if you are CONUS. If you are out of the USA, additional charges will apply. If you have an offer or questions, or want more pictures, PM me!

I have many recommendations in WUS forums, as well as other watch forums. Please ask for references, or search for them here in WUS. Please know, I am a private seller, so no returns issued after sale. However, seeing as we are all adults here, if there is a problem, please contact me and I will try my best to work out any issues that may arise. Also note, that I have sold many watches here and on other forums and I have yet to have a problem with any transaction (buy or sell).
Thanks for looking!
Brian
