World War II US Navy Longines military watch, US Navy COMDR personal item with back engraving from 1944 .Excelent piece of WW2 history in original untouched condition.Eugene Clark Rook was high ranked officer in the United States Navy .He donated his papers to Naval Academy Library (*credits to forum member @ TruCorsair)

Dial: The dial was never refinished , painting is not luminous anymore .Visible discoloration from 8 to 10 hour markers(proably from moisture).

Hands: The original blued steel military hands

Movement: Longines cal. 12L - 18,000 bph - 40 hours power reserve - 17 jewels movement. This movement was the US version of the cal. 12.68N. However, contrary to the cal. 12.68N, the cal. 12L has a hacking mechanism to help setting exact time or synchronizing the watch with other Navy personel.. Excellent working condition: Runs strong,Keeps excelent time,hacking device functions as they should.

Case: This unusual three piece case was made only for these US military models. The bezel and the case back are steel while the middle part of the case is zamak alloy ,originally it probably was chrome coated. The case diameter is 32 mm without crown. Lug size 16 mm.

Crown: Original large Aviator style unsigned steel crown.

Crystal: Original mineral crystal
