FullGear recently unveiled their debut watch series on Kickstarter, Pioneer, the first ever customizable tritium watches. Consisting of two stand-out models, NightMaster and Navigator, the Pioneer series boasts enhanced legibility thanks to gaseous tritium light sources (or GTLS), which lasts all day and all night long.

How Does It Work?

FullGear watches feature Swiss-made tritium tubes from mb-microtec AG. But what exactly does that mean when it comes to what you'll be wearing on your wrist? A round-the-clock glow that allows the wearer to read the time even in complete darkness. GTLS is a tiny glass vessel filled with tritium gas. The electrons emitted by the tritium gas are absorbed by the chemical layer inside the vessel and as a result, keep the tube glowing. The glow is steady and consistent; it does not need to be charged, as with other lume methods, and the brightness does not fade the longer you sit in the dark. What's more, GTLS has a lifetime of approximately 12 years. The result? A truly unique tool watch.

Features and Specs

The Pioneer series timepieces each feature a marine grade 316L stainless steel case, measuring 52mm lug-to-lug. Both the NightMaster and Navigator are powered by an automatic movement with date function, the reliable SII NH35 3. The hours are in bold Arabic numerals, with each marker highlighted by the Swiss-made tritium tubes around the rim of the dial.

However, the NightMaster also has the added feature of LumiNova numbers, for additional legibility at night. Sapphire crystal sits atop both watches, with two layers of AR coating. Both models also sport a solid caseback, screw-down crown and come teamed with high-quality USA leather straps, which feature a quick release spring bar system, making swapping out straps easy and convenient.

Fully Customizable

Interested in customizing your Pioneer? FullGear has developed a special customization platform, allowing you to tailor your Pioneer timepiece with just a few clicks. First, start by choosing the case. Then the dial design and color, the color of the hands, strap material (available in leather, canvas and NATO straps), even the color of the tritium tubes-color options include green, orange, yellow and ice blue. All told, there are over 10,000 potential combinations one can create, allowing you to make your Pioneer a one-of-a-kind signature piece.

"Our team members are all veterans from the watch industry. We believe a timepiece is not just a tool, it is a part of your character, and your partner to cope with different challenges. That's why we created FullGear, a watch equipped with the finest material, an all-the time glowing light for you even in complete darkness," says Luke Lau, the FullGear team lead. "We are so excited to share this watch with the Kickstarter community."
