Guys and Gals, I know it's not normal etiquette to link to a thread on another forum but in this case I think it's important that this particular topic is brought to people's attention. I hope the mods here will understand, otherwise please delete it with my apologies.

Here's the thread: http://www.mwrforum.net/forums/showthread.php?t=8949

It seems there are some very strange goings on which people need to be aware of including a site using images from Broadarrow.net to represent a watch which apparently is a SAR clone/copy.

No probs. Yeah, that was my thought. I'll post on TZ-UK and 3T as I'm a member of those. Maybe those who are members of the others could post there?

Why don't you go back and re-read the thread with Trevor from Telford Services reply and further information about the watch in question and MWC in particular.

Thanks for pointing at the answer of Telford Services. Any idea why the GTLS version is enscribed with the SEK markings and the Luminova painted version is enscribed with the GSG9 markings. According to what I could find out GSG 9 is a protected name. The numbers on the case back aren't "Prüfzeichen" of the Bundespolizei. According to a conversation I had today with a guy working at the Ministry of Interior (Beschaffungsstelle, Office of procurement) they don't know nothing on this watch. Any info on that ?

SEK doesn´t mean anything to me. Here in Germany we have a lot of SEK-teams, like there are a lot of SWAT-teams over in the US. The provisioning of the SEKs with watches would be the business of 16 different states here in Germany and there is no offcial SEK watch in Germany. Why then engraving SEK on the back ? Could someone shed some light on this matter ?

I just spoke to Trevor about this and a couple of things came out of the conversation:

Firstly he has informed MWC of the thread and they are going to look and see if any appropriate action needs to be taken. I don't think Trevor is too concerned as it doesn't directly affect them.

Secondly the SEK edition was done for a company in Germany buying on behalf of a SEK team. The GSG9/3 watch relates to a team within GSG9 involved with HALO parachuting and other specialist parachute roles. Trevor does not know about this watch as he does not supply that version. However he does believe the contract was through a third party company in Germany. He thinks that because of the economies of scale it would have been impossible to produce this watch in the small numbers required by the customer without adding quite a lot more to the production run to sell retail and make it worthwhile.

Both are no official issued watches though. The use of GSG9 to me seems to be a violation of the "Markengesetz" (protected mark).

BTW: I like the Sinn 856 BKA SG much more :)
