Hi guys,

Long time ago, I purchased an old abused DW-6900 for next to nothing. Its band and bezel were rotten (yes, resin rot is NOT a myth). Luckily I had a 6900 rasta bezel I had bought months before, also for like 9 dollars with free shipping!

Band was replaced by some blue nato adaptors and a red and blue generic nato band. A friend of mine liked the band and the adaptors so much I gave them to him. I didn't like the color scheme very much. "Let's purchase a white band", I thought.

Of course, I hadn't realized how expensive it was a new white band for a DW-6900. Getting the bezel so cheap had been almost a miracle. Shipping charges included, the band costed much more than the watch and the bezel together!

So my wach was kept in a drawer like this for months.

And yes, it's the Japanese version!

Then, JoseCanseco offered generously a band and a bezel for 5600. I asked for the former, as, thanks god, my 5600 are in good shape.

Pictures of the band that JoseCanseco sent me through PM's didn't look very good. He said: "They look much better in person". "Well, I might dye them someday", I thought. In fact, they looked pretty bad.

Well, they DID look much better in person. I have borrowed a camera for this post and I suck taking pictures, but here they are:

Finally, here's the restored G.

Yes, the band is not perfect, but I'm going to keep it like this. This way I have a 100% white G that I can abuse.

By the way, I have noticed that band is getting grey in the damaged areas instead of yellow. Which is GOOD, as grey looks much better.

So, this a tribute to JoseCanseco's generosity. I send him a big big THANK YOU from Spain.

All the best, pal. Thanks again,

G.

nice post, I enjoyed it. I have talked to Canseco here and there, and he seems like a really guy. Very partial to the 5600's though, so I'm surprised he helped you out with a 6900 problem....lol.

The rumors are true--I am indeed a really guy :)

Glad it worked out for you, the watch looks great! You'd asked about the bezel in the PM--I still have it but I'm not using it. It's in similar condition to the straps and it's all yours if you want it. Let me know.

Thank you so very much. I can think of many uses for it and if would be great to work in new project with an old GLS-5600 (my G collection looks much closer to a Lego with unfinished used and abused watches than any collection I know).

But that would be too much. I'm sure that there's someone out there with a compatible 5600 without bezel.

Really, isn't it?

Cheers,

G.
