At times through the course of the day, when I am wearing the Kingston, or I happen to see it catch the light a certain way, I often have to pause and turn it slightly, and look at that fabulous gilt glossy dial.

20150104_K_048-1.jpg

I'll sometimes turn it this way or that, to see it catch and return the light to me. Perhaps the light or a reflection will be bouncing off of the inside of the crystal, or the glossy dial, or the fabulous gilt of the hands, and I wonder at it. I am fascinated by it.....It seems to slow down time and sort of hypnotize me.....or something!

Many times I'll be moved to pick up a camera or the cell phone to try and capture what I've seen.... The light where I live changes color during the day, depending on the time of day and the surroundings, the color of the sky, how dark or cloudy it is, where the sun is, and so on.

20150104_K_048-2.jpg

Again, today, as the sun is dying in the West, I saw the golden light of late afternoon and early evening interacting with that dial again....and....Here we go.....

Kingston #048 has a gilt date dial and gilt handset, with C3 lume and a 'Bond' bezel insert. I didn't think I needed or even wanted a date-dialed Kingston, but this one has always found its way onto my wrist, more so than the others. Some days I'll take a little stroll outdoors. I'll turn the watch to catch and reflect the light....I'll marvel at it a bit....

20150104_K_048-4.jpg

The C3 lume material seems to be very efficient, that is; it quickly charges and returns a brighter light more quickly than the BGW9.....and I like that off-white or greenish tint more than the blue or grey-tinted BGW9.

20150104_K_048-5.jpg

Maybe I'll notice something and I'll have to take a series of pictures, each at a slightly different angle....

I'm captivated....entranced. Perhaps I glimpse a trace of the infinite in the 'quick flashes of chance....'

Then I'll get back to what I really should be doing, having thoroughly enjoyed my little diversion.... It was a nice little ten-minute break.

Fantastic pictures as usual OCM, thank you for taking and posting them.

I find it odd that my interest in my Kingston has not waned over the time I have owned it. On the contrary I may appreciate it more. Not only is it good looking and versatile, but it is very comfortable.

Agreed on all above! And, as all of us that are lucky enough to own a gilt-dialed Kingston know, even the BEST pics, like those above, don't even come CLOSE to capturing the elusive, ever-changing visual and visceral qualities of this dial in its full "Gilt Glory". As a guy that has owned two original Rolex 6538's, I can confidently say that "the homage has transcended the original"...

Amazing pix. I agree with White Tuna completely. My love for this watch has actually only grown over the years. The Kingston has taught me that I could be a one watch guy...provided that one is a Kingston and I have have a pile of straps still. Well, that is until my KW arrives that is:)

The Kingston is an inspiring watch. My love for mine has only grown in the 3 years it's been on my wrist. Now, assuming nobody minds another pic...

 All those old vintage subs have stirred a desire..... hitherto Unknown....

I Need a durable, modern 'stunt-double' ......

20150116_K_183-095814.jpg

A pinch-hitter....

20150116_K_183-100649.jpg

A stand-in.....

20150116_K_183-100733.jpg

It must have fantastic, quick-acting and long-lasting luminescent dial markings...

20150116_K_183-100838.jpg

It should have subtly sculpted gilt hands...

20150116_K_183-100847.jpg

Matched with an attention-grabbing gilt dial....

20150116_K_183-100857.jpg

I am...... hypnotized by 'the Grail' ....

(This momentary musing brought to you compliments of Kingston #183.)

We are patiently awaiting 'Key West' .... ;-)

OCM, I previously complimented you on your musing as being meditation-like. Well, this one.....is downright arousing! :-d

So far, I've been able to quell my desire for a Kingston but your musings aren't helping.... ;-) o|

Why the gloss is cool #27...

Because you might catch a reflection of the hands, then have a double or even triple reflection off the dial and the back of the crystal. ;-) ;-) ;-)
