Glashütte Original had debuted the Impressions book in September last year, however this was its’ first presentation in the U.S.  The glamorous event took place on February 3 rd at the MILK studios in Los Angeles.  In attendance were celebrities like Joel McHale (The Soup) and Henrik Fisker (Fisker Auto), members of L.A RedBar Crew, Purist Pro, and many collectors and friends of the brand.

There was reading of three chapters by the respective authors.  Reading by Joel McHale was very entertaining about his introduction to the brand and why and what he liked about Glashütte Original.   Reading by Gisbert Brunner about the tourbillon perpetual calendar was also entertaining, but also very informative.  The book has 12 sections, or facets - Originality, Community, Excellence, Consistency, Creativity, Resilience, Flexibility, Beauty, Devotion, Balance, Heritage and Perspectives.  Each section has four to five chapters and an essay.  All of these are providing an impression of Glashütte Original from an interesting viewpoint.

All the new collection as well as some of the historic pieces from Glashütte Original were on display.  The guests were treated with demonstration by manufactury's dial and watchmaker.   They demonstrated the complex process of dial manufacturing and movement assembly.

Watchuseek team also had an opportunity to sit down with Mr. Yann Gamard, CEO of Glashütte Original, and discuss more details about the book.  Mr. Gamard explained that Impressions book was released to celebrate the diversity and rich history of the brand.  The 250-page book is a collaboration amongst a diverse group of writers, celebrities, politicians, and journalists.  He considers the word Collaboration as an important part of Glashütte Original culture – whether it is collaboration on a book or collaboration on creating a revolutionary tourbillon.

When asked about convergence in art and watchmaking, Mr. Gamard keenly discusses that watchmaking at Glashütte Original is an art and a lifestyle.  Every watchmaker, dial-maker, and designer is an artist.  When you observe the dial and movement, it evokes the exquisite art made in Saxony.

Mr. Gamard addressed the guests with same passion “It is the people – the engineers, precision mechanics and watchmakers, all the friends, business partners and companions of Glashütte Original – who transform our watches into veritable collector's items. We wanted to give them a platform. As a result, IMPRESSIONS is not only a portrait of our manufactory, but a tribute to the rich history of the region and the outstanding skills of the people who work and live here. We take a precise and personal approach in everything we do at Glashütte Original and revel in moments when we can celebrate our work and history with our community like we did in Los Angeles during our presentation of Impressions.“

Impressions book is currently available in Glashütte Original boutiques worldwide, or you can contact the manufactury directly .
