I currently have the GMW-B5000GD-1, GMW-B5000D-1 and a GW5000U with combi bracelet and love all 3 watches but I wanted something in between.

I got a used GMW-B5000-1 for a good price but I don't like resin bands. After some careful planning I decided to modify a combi bracelet to fit the watch

I had to trim the lug ends of the combi with a razor blade to make them line up with the screw bars.
The screw bars are the same diameter as the combi spring pins

Next had to cut off the middle lug from the watch case then I trimmed down the combi lug from 16mm to 14mm.

The total weight is 110 grams with 2 links removed

Whoa, I applaud the effort, that's a heck of a mod! I would have cut a notch in the combi bracelet endlink instead of hacking up the case.

That was my first plan but the decided against it in order to keep the strength of the combi end link.

Thats a clean mod, though it requires extensive modification to the case which is not something most will be willing to do. Is this more top heavy than the GW-5000? Because the B5000 has a metal bezel and screwbars which add extra weight.

Correct doing this type of modification is risky but I like to tinker and modify my watches. I bought the watch used for a low price with the sole intention of doing this mod.

It is slightly more top heavy than the GW5000 due to bezel but it is similar to the stock GWMB5000 with resin band.

I have the GWMB5000TFC crystal ordered and looking to get a black titanium bezel or figure out a way to put a resin bezel on.

I think putting a titanium bezel would benefit it more. A poor man's B5000 Porter is an appealing idea.

Most probably dremel.

I used a Dremel with cut off disc
I used some masking tape and left the lugs exposed.
I first cut towards the hole in the middle of the lug from both sides also dipping the watch the watch in water to keep the temperature down.
Then I used small hand file to get it flush with the body of the watch

Thanks for the info....

wish Casio offered a B5000 model with a resin bezel to put the finishing touches on this mod......wonder if the resin bezel from the GW-5000 can be modded cleanly to accomplish the goal....

Why would you want to fit a resin bezel on this? The B5600 serves that purpose.
