So, I have tried buying a couple of different sailcloth bands.
I want to put a longish sail cloth on my Islander ISL 14.
I do not understand the sail cloth and rubber things.

Can someone point me in the direction of a reputable 22 mm black sail cloth strap?

Take your pick. Mind you the backing is rubber so that the strap can get wet.

If that's not your thing here's one with a leather backing.

Thank you Richard.

Artem is pretty decent for their sailcloth straps. Not too bad on price for the standard ones. The hydroflex, which is like a rubber sailcloth hybrid are much more expensive and not worth the cost.

Truly for the best sailcloth, Blancpain is the best quality. Yes, expensive, however you do get what you pay for in this case as they are awesome.

However if you don't plan to abuse it with water exposure a custom made sailcloth would also be great and likely cheaper than some options.

You guys are awesome. Thank you.

For ever I have been a dive watch, with Barton elite black and orange silicone guy. Like 99 percent of my watches.
But, it appears I have been not looking and just being dumb and stuck in my ways.

I had bought a Barton sail cloth, and it literally failed the exact same way three times. Barton was cool enough to just send another one, but on the last one I just gave up.

You really do get what you pay for.

The straps in the 2nd post in this thread look identical to what AliExpress vendors sell, down to the 125/75mm size. I'd wager they are just sourced from Alibaba vendors in bulk but with some customization (like the buckle).

There's a picture from a customer in one of the AE vendor's reviews section with the freakin' "Dassari" logo on the back of the strap. 😖 Dead giveaway of who makes the Strapsco sailcloth....

I have several of those AE straps, they perform a lot better than you'd think a $5-9 strap should. One new vendor is now selling a 115mm/75mm strap, I bought one and while it's not as flexible as the Artem it's dimensions sure do look close to the Artem design if not identical. For less than 1/10th the price.

Some of the AliExpress vendors I've bought from, no duds in the bunch so far:

the 115/75mm vendor:

one of many 125mm/75mm vendors, bought from these guys and the quality was nice:

another 125/75, the buckle is hideous and no QR bars but price is good

non-Artem style if you prefer it. 120mm/80mm. Goes good with a Citizen diver I own:

Ok. Easy question. I bought an Artem classic a couple weeks ago in 20mm. I liked it so much I bought 3 different color 22mm Dassari sailcloth straps from Strapsco.

Upon close inspection, I can find zero difference in the quality of the construction. 3 for the price of one. I would not have believed it!

Artem wasn't that great when I bought. Others have provided their thoughts in my review thread and said it's remained the same. The best sailcloth bar none is from Blancpain, but it costs a lot of money and may not be the right lug width. In that case, be judicious about choosing an alternate—most of them are stamped rubber rather than actual woven textile, but they are usually honest about that part.

Finwatchsttaps?
They are great if you work for the Company(?) and receive an employee discount or are a billionaire. Seriously, $250 usd + for a canvas strap. You would really need to be nuts to buy anything from this website?

He is looking for a strap for a watch that came with a strap and together cost less than one strap from these guys.

The advantage of the 115x75mm is that is most suitable for smaller wrist??
They're closer in size for a normal sized wrist, say 7.5 inches and smaller. Another thing that is different is thicker padding, which makes the center portion of the strap look close (if not identical) to the Artem's cross section. It is stiffer but I like the newer design, it more closely matches the Artem's basic look.

It's in the short review I did, linked earlier in this thread.

are this good or u know another more quality close to artem's style?
I've not bought any of those (nor did I know they existed). The rubber backing of low-cost AliEx straps I've bought are not that flexible compare to the Hirsch Performance strap designs. I don't have the Artem straps so I can't say how flexible they are compared to those. These straps are all made of synthetic materials so I don't see much advantage to the hybrids if it's water resistance you're after.

I just wish these Chinese makers would make the straps 120/80mm like the European makers do. That covers as many size wrists but has the advantage of not looking overly long on a smaller wrist. It also increases teh chances the buckle sits under the wrist instead of skewed to one side.
