Grand Seiko ADs - 20% off stock models - Competing with Michael Kors and Diesel watches at AD

GS has now become a non-luxury brand in Scandinavia in GS' attempt to make GS exclusive and hard to get. But - oh - the irony...

It seems to be a restructuring going on with GS in Scandinavia, and therefore many ADs sell GS with 20% off as they loose the right to sell the brand.

Given the fact that the USD is strong against Scandinavian currencies AND the 20% sale AND the possibility to extract even more off by going duty free (VAT-off ca. additional 20% as VAT in Scandinavia is 25%) for foreigners - your next GS could be dirty cheap.

E.g. image form a Swedish AD: Only USD5.800 for a SBGY013.

Interesting.. very interesting

Leo Says Hi
Looking it up, appears to be more like 7500 for that one you mentioned. I guess its an ok price, but not amazing.

What?

Deducting Swedish VAT we're down to USD 5.800.

Perhaps not so amazing for GS trying to upscale their brand perception though... 😂
I am in US. Went to their site and one one GS is listed. Did they sell out already?

Some potential maybe?

They likely sold their entire inventory quickly at those prices...

@Charvel86 and @Cowboy Bebop - Several still on sale along with Michael Kors watches.

THAT is a mix you would not believe just a few weeks ago.

The fun part is that the Michael Kors watches is NOT on sale. LOL. -> https://magnussonsur.se/produkter/klockor/?filter_gender=herr

GS maison is really making GS "exclusive" these days. :ROFLMAO: Competing with Micheal Kors watches. Way to go GS!

The market value Of GS can never be compared to that of MK and Diesel.

"maison". Lol, indeed. Made me want to take your post even more seriously
Is GS leaving your market?

I've seen they recently opened a new store on Bond Street in London and have grown points of sale across the UK in the past few years.

There is a new large store coming to Madison Avenue soon, I believe, and they have increased their US "events" this year. They seem to be growing in these two locations, I supposed it makes sense to contract in others.

So losing the "AD" means they are not required to sell according to any agreement (i.e. expensive just because...) and are likely selling below the required price yet still above their purchase price just to get rid of them? Can't be penalized for selling below that Seiko-set price? Yeah, if I were losing my AD privileges I'd dump them too.

Just showing that 20% off is still above cost and making some profit for the reseller. I have no idea what that really is but I've always assumed the MSRP is double the cost and then some.

Yes you're right they're still making a profit because they bought them at dealer cost..but you save a ton even though they won't be dealers anymore.
