November 15th 2017, the worlds first Grand Seiko Boutique opened it's doors in Beverly Hills, CA on the world famous Rodeo Drive. This is, as mentioned, a Grand Seiko Boutique, so no other Seiko lines are shown in this location (though select models may be stocked or available for order). This location helps celebrate the independence of Grand Seiko as a brand, to showcase the largest collection of Grand Seiko available in one location. This boutique also showcases many models that are not available in the United States, selling them as Boutique exclusive, or GS Boutique exclusives in the USA. If you are in the area, I highly recommend checking it out. It's a beautiful store, has a lovely private showing salon and over 80 different styles of Grand Seiko.

The inauguration ceremony, hosted by the President and COO of Seiko Watch Corporation, Shuji Takahashi, was held in the presence of the Consul General of Japan in Los Angeles, Mr. Akira Chiba, and the Mayor of Beverly Hills, Ms. Lili Bosse.

The grand opening celebration was incredible, with the festivities starting at the boutique itself for the ribbon cutting, traditional kagami-biraki (sake barrel breaking) ceremony, speeches, a Spring Drive master watchmaker demonstration and food by chef Nobu Matsuhisa. A live performance of traditional Japanese koto string instrument also took place, as well as a Japanese calligraphy artist who provided guests their own souvenir to take home. Within minutes of opening it's doors, guests also raced to make the first purchase in this new location. It was truly an incredible evening.

After the celebration at the boutique, the party shifted to a private club where a live koto musician and jazz band performed. There was also a special Japanese whisky tasting and private showing of the new Hi-Beat GMT "Peacock" Limited Edition SBGJ227.

I hope you enjoy the pictures from the event below!

Joe, I had an amazing time at this event! It was such an honor to be there and to be around so much of the WIS family. Also, it was a pleasure meeting you! It was an experience I’ll never forget it, my friend!

Wow, that looked like an amazing place to have an invite too!
One question, I didn't notice any price tickets?
Well, I suppose, 'if you have to ask the price......' ;-)

Beautiful store, however, I have mixed feelings about this as GS has always been "our little secret". Now, we will see all kinds of folks that really don't care about watches wearing them for status and our secret nod will be ruined!

Oh well, it was good while it lasted.

I get the sentiment, but not so sure it'll be a status thing; I think it'll remain more a JLC type "in the know" geek brand, but really, more GS' sold = more cool watches and a more diverse selection to choose from with easier to service maintenance if it helps them build out the brand. For those seeking rare, there'll always be the LE's, or the "Grander" Seikos like the SBGD201, but I do think there'll still be that geek buy-in required to get into the brand

Looks a bit high brow for me. Doubt they'd even let me in the door. Oh well...guess GS is no longer going to be cool :(

store looks great ( i went by last week) but more importantly the lighting compliments the GS line rather than overwhelming them.
Great to see a dedicated store rather than just a display case in an over lit store..... GS don't need much light to sparkle.
