I recently inherited this old pocket watch from my late grandmother. It was received by her father as a 50-years birthday present from his employer. I haven't done any watch photography before (even though Ming Thein is my photography guru). So I borrowed a consumer-grade Olympus camera and the terrific 60/2.8 macro from my mother and spent a few hours trying things out.

I don't have any lighting equipment, suitable tripod, or spare time to shoot during daylight hours, so high ISOs and wide apertures were the order of the day. I tried to use the shallow depth of field to my advantage rather than fighting against it. Everything was shot hand-held as pre-white balanced JPEG and went through minimal processing in PhotoShop. Let me know how I did!

For those wondering about the brand, do a search on the forum. NIGA is short for Armand NIcolet & G. GAgnebin, both active (but separate) watch brands today.
