Green Santos - Not a Lot of Love?

I did a cursory search, but didn’t come across anything related to this. If this has been covered elsewhere, mods, please merge the threads.

I have been mulling buying a Cartier Santos for a while now. I had put it on hold for a bit, and only just restarted my bid to buy one. I am super confused between the white dial (all time classic, but have a bunch of white dial watches), and the blue (gorgeous looking dial). I was searching online for references, when I came across an upcoming green dial Santos. I am surprised I didn’t read about it earlier, nor did I see a lot of discussion here. I myself am not convinced of a green dial in a Santos - something just doesn’t look right to me. What does the WISdom think about it?

I'm not a huge fan of green dials or the Santos for that matter, but this combo really works well. I like the dark hue of green they chose.
I’ve never gotten the Santos, but I think they picked the right shade of green for the dial.

I think it looks great but it's not for me. I'm too basic I guess
Nice shade of green
Love it.
I have the white dial medium though so absolutely no interest in changing, I’m just not that adventurous when it comes to fashion.

i made a thread on it at the cartier sub forum but its not surprising as the other new offerings from cartier got most of the shine and the new green and blue medium santos offerings got pushed to the side

the same with the new salmon dial pasha which cartier forgot to market it themselves as pics of it is very scarce, these are the only two decent pics ive found

If I turn my head sideways and cross my eyes....

It looks perfect.

Otherwise

Pass.
For me personally I prefer the blue or white. I also don’t wear that many outfits that I feel a green watch would pair well with. I have a white dial Santos and one of the things I like about it is I can wear it if I dress up or have jeans and a T-shirt on.

Thanks @NightScar. Yeah, didn’t see this thread. And my god, that pasha looks gorgeous!

I like green dials, but they're not easy to get right. I don't know this model. From these images I don't find it to be a particularly strong green dial, in the sense that it fails to immediately stand out to me. Perhaps it's the highly classic dial layout against the green that feels a little jarring. I'm not sure if one could say that green isn't a classical colour, but I guess one can say it's not one of the traditionally most popular colours for dials...

On this watch the white or blue is the more traditional dial color ways. I would, (only for resale reasons), stay away from this green color. However if that’s not a factor and you like it best then go with the green dial.
It’s a lovely shade of green. Very subtle (perhaps too subtle?), not a run-of the mill green and I like it just for that reason. It’s the Santos itself I just never could come around to.
The green dial configuration pictured is very new, so maybe not enough discussion about it as of yet, Just saw Hodinkee mention it. While I am sure it is a fine watch, I always think of the traditional dialed Cartier watches as my first choice, but if I was Cartier collector and had other traditional silver or ivory dialed Cartiers, then the green would be awesome. Also the color may not be available for long . If you are a collector, this makes the green dial ever more special over time.

We’re starting to see many variations of this watch, but the stainless or two tone and the white face are clearly the classic version.

The green is nice but this is a watch that many like because of the classic, clean white face.

Not a fan of Santos, but this is beautiful...
For me, occasionally wearing a green dial watch and having one in one's collection would be nice, but wearing one daily may get old quickly.
That green is lovely! I have the usual hang-ups about "what will green match with" and then I look at my orange or red watches and go, ok, never mind. :)
white will be timeless and always desirable, green passing fad
