Gruen was proud of their nyc address as shown in 1929 catalog. Special diamond and platinum watches originated there. It also became the main U.S. address for Bulova. Was always and still is a diamond and jewelry trading center. I was prompted to verify 580 5th ave when I noticed a Gruen and a USA marked Bulova with similar Fifth Ave. marking. Apparently Gruen's platinum and diamond decorated cases came from a group making jewelry and cases here. I am guessing not owned by Gruen or Bulova, and Gruen used the location as nyc sales office.

The building at 580 Fifth in NYC is not the one pictured in the advertisement. Interesting...

Google maps (you have to convert to street view to see what I mean).

Bulova address was 580 5th, not seen 580 5th written as Gruen address. Only 1929 Gruen drawing and a recent photo I show of 580 5th street level which is not the big newer corner located building Google shows.

CORRECTION: The building shown in Gruen 1929 catalogue is not 580 5th. Which was a Bulova address but not the Gruen address that was nearby. However, it seems both Gruen and Bulova used a specialist jeweler case maker, in the area, in their cases marked 5th Ave.
