hi guys

i like the GW-6900 but the strap it comes on looks way big, i've had to change straps before and usually prefer the strap that come on the GWM-5600, which i think is the strap that normally comes on the DW5600's as well. does anyone know if the GW-M5600 strap will fit on the much bigger GW-6900?

cheers

uhm, i think both have the same size, maybe the 5600 is thinner a little bit

dw-5600 is smaller

yes, it would fit

ok thanks guys

kurzjak that looks very good thanks, i had to change the strap on my dw5600ms1 for the same reason, the gwm5600 strap just so much more comfortable, it looks the same on your 6900: fits the wrist so much better, doesn't overhang on the sides.

cheers

Has anyone done the opposite of putting a DW/GW6900 strap on a 5600 series G-Shock before?
I did for about two minutes -- before I ordered a new 5600 strap I just swapped the one from my DW-5600 to my GW-6900 and vice versa, but I disliked the above mentioned "overhang on the sides" part on the 5600 as well. I just swapped them back, bought a new 5600 strap, put it on the 6900 and am much happier with it:

Does the 6900 have those "wings" like the 7900s do? Are 6900s and 7900s compatible with each other strap wise?
The GW-6900 doesn't have "wings" exactly, more like little "ribs" that accomplish the same thing and sort of spread the band outward. It's probably more comfortable on a wider wrist; from what I've seen here a lot of us don't like the extra "gap" that occurs between the band and some narrower wrists (like mine).

I ordered a 3-pack of g-shock straps on ebay not too long ago, I think they're still on there, they're colors though (purple, clear blue, and yellow) they are a couple mm smaller than the standard 6900 straps, and they fit on and work perfectly.

georgemason - From what I've read the GW-5000 strap is different to the DW-5600/GW-M5600 and is much more comfortable.

Would anyone happen to have a picture of both the GW-5000 and GW-M5600 side by side?

I have steadily replaced all my 5600 bands with GW5000 bands (much softer and more flexible resin) and the left over 5600 bands have replaced my DW6600/6900 bands, they fit better and conform to the wrist and stop the watch head rotating around the wrist. The 6600 bands then got transferred to my DW5300's as the bands they came with were perished and missing the keepers (the 5300's came originally with the same band as the 6600's). All in all it's worked out quite well and all my G's fit comfortably.

I just put a GW-5000 strap on my new GW-6900 and it's excellent! I like it much better than the original strap!

The only issue was that it was a bit of a pain to get the GW-6900 strap off, and a real pain to get the GW-5000 strap on. But it's worth it!

PS: No "proof photo"? ;-)
Sure, coming right up! I really was spoiled by the GW-5000-1JF strap (my first GShock). So when I got the GW-6900 the strap really bugged me.

It was too stiff and too large, and I didn't like how it wore on my wrist. So I researched and learned that the GW-5000 strap would fit. A quick visit to PacParts and I ordered a GW-5000 strap.

Installing it wasn't easy, but it was worth it.
