Hi all,
I went to the Nürnberg AD for Hanhart yesterday and it did not go as planned.
Originally I was set on the Moby Dick or the non-flyback non-red-pusher equivalent with a black dial. I tried all of them and this one just changed my mind. Here is what I found:
-The non-flyback variants 42mm Moby and black are a little thinner than the flyback but all of them wear wonderful. I have a 16cm wrist and it wasnt obvious that 42 will fit, they felt right at home from the get-go.
-The non-flybacks have a ghost date position.
-The leather band of the Moby Dick is very thick and would need a lot of breaking in, their thin black leather straps are very nice to wear.
The flyback calibre is a AMT Sellita Calibre which means its from the custom made ddepartment of Sellita. It looks very nice and handles well, no complaints.
The packaging is no thrills honestly. A simple black box, a short manual and a polishing cloth. The watch itself is wrapped in a quite big and nice quality leather roll. Its a big roll for just one watch imo.
The saleslady from the Nürnberg AD was an absolute charm, easy, down-to-earth no fancy shmance. I definitely recommend checking them out, they are in the beautiful center of the city and have all kinds of brands pre-owned and new.
Here is some interesting Infos I gathered from the lady:
-Hanhart is desparately looking for watchmakers as they currently only have one for the chronographs. All the flybacks are sold out on the website and the new shipment is scheduled for October, go figure.
-I could take a look at the Hanhart watch book and its really big, and of highest quality. Lots of picture but also serious historical data. I will get this very soon. I asked if she would throw it in to sweeten the deal but they only had one themselves.
-Hanhart has picked up a lot of interest in the last 2 years and the buyers are mostly 50+. Interestingly, not all of them are German, there is a solid portion of tourists who come to take a look at them as well.
That`s it. As a long term Hanhart fan, it is a sincere company, small and passionate. Give them a look!
