After another faultless performance as my travel watch, this time on recent duty in the Seychelles...

... I just noticed last night that the old familiar 4 second jump has begun - so it's new battery time again! - the 3rd for this one I think?

I just thought that it might be helpful to post up a quick clip of what this looks like, as a reference for anyone who notices it in future and isn't sure what's going on, and maybe worried their watch has gone wrong... don't worry, it's meant to do this... :-!

( notice the smooth small second hand movement on the speedy next door)

Gives me an excuse for a trip to the service centre / boutique again! :-d

100% behind you on that statement. The SMP quartz, next to a GMT which a lot of us don't own, is the best. I love the fact you can set the hour-hand and keep the watch going. Super b-)

I've been wearing my SMP for a week or so. PO has to take the backseat sometimes.

Not so sure if thats a good thing

boutique again! :-d
But there I like to visit too. :-! (just for window shopping of course)

That is a great feature, I agree. I always feel quite smug when the plane lands and there's that cabin announcement, "we have just landed at ... where the local time is ... " , and I just move the hour hand to adjust; it's so simple compared with everyone else fumbling around, especially all those looking around for something pointy to set their digitals!

For me, about 4 or 5 years, which I think is in line with Omega's indicated lifetime. I bought this new in the mid 90's, so I was expecting it to happen again soon. What I'm wondering now, is how long might the battery still last before it goes completely... mmm, maybe I'll leave it and see ( unless it gets too annoying o| )

Thanks for sharing!, I am buying the 300M SMP at the end of the year and I was wondering exactly how the low battery indicator worked....mystery solved!, many thanks!
Great, that's why I posted this - It is a little spooky when you first see it happen ;-)

Again already ?? but it's only been 3 and a bit years!

It is an old gentlemen now, so perhaps it just isn't as energy efficient at it once was ( I know that feeling! ) ; or was that last battery no good? I'm sure previous intervals were much longer.

I just wondered if anyone else has experienced shorter intervals between battery changes for their Bond Quartz ?

Did you have the watch serviced during the battery change? you still have gears running in this movement that still need cleaning if not can cause strain hence less years out of the battery.

Thanks for sharing... I just acquired an SMP300 Q recently and was wondering what the end of life indicator would look like. I've owned quartz watches in the past so I assumed it would be a 3-4 second hand jump. Mine is almost 4 years old so I was expecting a new battery soon.

Question - if you pull the crown out to hack the seconds, does this stop the watch from using juice from the battery too? Just wondering if this is a helpful practice when putting it into the safe for extended periods.

By the way, nice Moonphase!

Also, as this is my first time owning a high-end quartz, would you guys recommend getting the battery changed by Omega? There is a service centre here in Toronto, so it's not really out of the way.

I just wonder if it's suspect having any other jeweler opening the case...

Mystro, would you recommend this DIY option for any Omega quartz? I've got a 2221.80.00 and looking to get the battery replaced fairly soon. I've been quoted $100 to send off to Omega and have them do the replacement, but it was a 4-6 week turnaround.

I'm actually curious, if you take it to an Omega boutique, will they do a battery swap/pressure test on the spot? I'm sure it would cost something like $75, but I'm more curious as to if they'd actually do one in store.

I'm in Milwaukee and the closest boutique looks to be in Chicago. I have called a few places and all state they would ship to an Omega facility on the west coast. Not sure if that is accurate, but have heard it from two different stores.
