Hi There,

I'm looking at purchasing a vintage watch (locally) as I really like the look and style of it. I'm trying to find out more information about it as I can't seem to narrow down a model or price point for it. It has the 7733 Valjoux Movement and is Elgin (that much I know). I want to make sure I'm paying a fair price for it as I don't want to be taken advantage of (or take advantage of them).

Was wondering if you might be able to identify it from the attached picture?

Thanks!

I think it's unlikely that you're going to get a specific model name for this watch and you probably won't find too many identical examples. However, similar watches are common enough, so if you go into the advanced search on eBay and search for sold listings using the terms

vintage chronograph (7733,7734)

I think you will get a pretty good sense of the price range that is reasonable. Look for examples with a similar size, shape, condition and case material, and without a bracelet. Also, focus on examples from no-name or mid-tier brands. You should not be paying extra for the Elgin name in a 1970s watch.
