Hello,

I just bought a Beautiful watch on ebay. The name on the dial is Jackville, its swiss made 15 jewels. It looked fairly old and well made, with no obvious damage or missing parts. So I parted with £22 in order to have it. I researched the name before I bid on it, and considered it to be a positive that I found zero information on it (not a common watch!).

Does anyone have any information on this watch company/manufacturer? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

The following images are those on the ebay listing, I will upload new- more detailed ones- when I receive it.

I've been buying old watches for about a year now, and doing my best at breathing some new life into them. This one seems to be a very interesting piece, and I'm really looking forward to cleaning it up!

Thank you all!

Re: HELP! - Jackville Swiss Made Watch information?

I would guess this a late 30's piece of above average quality. It will be fun to see the after pics.

The brand might be the jeweler retailer's name. Others will know more, I suspect.

I think it says Sackville.

If you look at these cufflinks Vintage Antique Cuff Links Art Deco 'Jackville & Jones' | eBay listed as 'Jackville and Jones' the J in Jones is completely different from the first letter of the first word. Sackville and Jones are tailors off The Strand.

I like that watch.|>

Spot on! It is Sackville! Apparently its a trademark from Helvetia, for export in America..? With a Helvetia cal. 82A-28 movement?

There's no company name on the movement (that I can see) so I doubt it was sent to America. Probably sold in England. I'd put it late 30's or early 40's; those textured metal dials were popular in the 20's and 30's.

Sackville Information

I finally managed to get some info on the Sackville name! Hopefully this will be of some assistance to other confused owners!

I found a list of Swiss watch companies and logos: Mikrolisk - The horological trade mark index

It is evident that the name Sackville was used be the General Watch co., for export.
My hint was the C.L.B. logo on the back case:

I would love to hear from other Sackville owners, and from anyone with more information on the G.W.C.!
Also, If anyone knows what this movement is or how to identify it?

Thank you all for your help

Sackville update.
Received it today, and was very exited. It is not that big, measuring 30mm without the crown. But large enough for its age. I opened it up and cleaned the case, but was disappointed to find that there is a problem with the balance... It bounces around a lot, but it seems not to be broken.. Not sure what the problem is, as I only have basic knowledge of "watch repairing".
I also find the acrylic crystal to be a bit too "domed", so a mineral low dome replacement seems likely.
Can anyone identify this GWc movement? Because i might need to take this to my "watch guy", something i always try to avoid..

Hello,
Hope you have been successful in obtaining information about your Sackville. Sorry I can't help you with much information other than I have one too. It belonged to my Grandfather, his daughter told me he bought it using Black Cat cigarette coupons. Here are some pictures, including a side view of the glass.

Great story! Document it and keep the document with the watch.
