I just bought gold defender frogman and I just realise it later tonight that the watch didn't beep when I change mode.
After I try the alarm and all the normal function I am now sure that my module is 'mute'.
I try to read the manual and nothing stated that the watch can be muted.
Did I just bought a faulty module?

I can't see any mention of a mute feature in the manual. It could be the spring, though as atomicsolar says, it's unlikely anyone's needed to take the back off. Try pressing and holding the bottom-right button to see if the alarm works. If it doesn't, it sounds like the alarm spring is either missing or not making good contact.

Why? Doesn't it use a rechargeable battery to store the power? Rechargeable batteries loose their power over time and store less and less power, so after a period they must be changed...
I'm probably mistaken, but I didn't think that model had been around long enough to need a new solar battery.

Thanks for the responses :thanks and I know my description or responses will sound funny :-d as english is not my first language.

Gold Defender is GW-200GM-9.

I bought it new as an old stock from a hardware store. Don't think they have a return policy but they have a full 1 year warranty though.

I will go to the service center tommorrow, hopefully the problem only comes from a missing spring. I guess at a time (they are from 2002) the dealer change the capacitor and loose the spring in the process .

Hopefully this frog will not need animal rescue organization :).

@ Mansrow,

Did you lose your spring too, Mansrow guy? Were you muted? :)

The rubber pad could have been put on wrong, so the holes in it aren't lined up with the contact/s.

I don't think that the Gold Defender uses a spring for the speaker. It looks a like simple contact. It's possible that the speaker is no good.

I hope it's easily repairable because the service center in my country is famous for they 'lack of spare part' in servicing.
