Hello all,

Been a lurker for a while, thought I'd finally dive in - I'm about to start work, and need a watch that'll do a few specific things, namely:
Really good illumination
Day/date
Quartz movement
Tough enough to stand some serious knocks
Will take a NATO/ZULU strap
Under £300 - possibly also a cheap disposable
No digital - I hate having to trigger the backlight

This is pretty important as I will often be working at night, the watch will probably get bashed around quite seriously, and I will constantly have to check exact time and date for job purposes. The watch I have currently which best fits this brief is a Seiko 007 - but it was a graduation present and also beautiful, so I don't want to risk it.

If anyone feels like sharing any of their knowledge/experience I would be really grateful.

Cheers

A

Current watches:
Smiths Astral
Seiko 007
Seiko SNN231p1
Seiko SSC137p1 on ZULU strap
Kronos/ZULUDIVER RN Diver on ZULU strap
Kronos/ZULUDIVER SBS Diver on ZULU strap
Casio G7710-1DR G-SHOCK
Casio Sea-Pathfinder
Traser Outdoor Pioneer on ZULU strap

Better dets and pictures to follow

With the exception of the zulu strap, I think that a G-Shock will fill all your other requirements. There are models that will automatically light if you swing your arm up, so there's no need to push a button to activate the backlight...

If you must have a zulu, then I'm out of suggestions.

Agree exactly. Your 7710 has one of the best movements ever put in a basic G-Shock

Actually the CWC SBS has just popped back up on my radar - good lume, apparently tough, takes NATO/Zulu and has day/date. Fortunately I live quite close to silvermans so can head down there and check one out in the flesh.... And start saving up!
