Hi to all,

I would like to buy my fist vintage seiko. I own Seiko 5 from 1995, 36mm and it's to small. Owned and Sinn 556, 38mm and it was much better fit. Right now I'm on the hunt for vintag seiko, mechanical or quartz, I would like white dial and min size of 38mm, it can be bigger. And not chrono. I would like to get help with model(ref) suggestions. And if you know the best place to hunt it, that would be very helpful. Yahoo auctions? Thank you guys!

For a white dial vintage field watch, I'm thinking SARB013 (38mm). The green version of this (SARB017) is actually one of my favorite Seikos of all time. I don't know many white dial divers, but maybe 6458-600B, though this may be harder to find. I think there are a few white dial diver's in Seiko's current line up, like SRPE37. If you are open to a dress watch, then there are many King Seiko, Grand Seiko and Lord Marvel, Skyliner, and Business A options from the 60s and 70s of various prices, but most will be smaller than 38mm. There are always dozens of examples on ebay.

For a more recent vintage for a dress watch, everyone likes SARB035. And its 38mm.

No King or Grand Seiko vintage model is 38mm, mostly 36mm.

Some of their sporty models are 38mm or more, but you'd be better off buying a new Presage or Prospex for that kind of money.

Just my 2 cents...
Even the vintage 62MAS was 37mm. I agree just buy a modern Seiko for a case 38mm or larger unless you want to go for a vintage diver.

As for vintage Sinn (if there's even such a thing) it's hard to beat the hype of an EZM1 Mission Timer with the Lemania 5100 (IIRC German border guard old standard issue).
