Hello everyone, I recently purchased this old pocket watch and I'm having problems finding any information about it. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Jn. Ryland 1403 London stamped. I found info on Ryland and Sons but not sure if it's the same family. Please let me know if you need better photos or have any questions. Thanks

Loomes's "Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World" has a notation for a John Ryland in London pre 1769-circa 1800. Unfortunately your watch is not cased in a silver or gold case that would be hallmarked with a date code. Going by the movement's style and it having a Tompion regulator it's most likely 1800 at the latest. Could you show us a photo showing what is between the plates, square pillars would indicate approx.1770 or earlier.
