Hello everyone,

I have been in touch with Helson and would like to evaluate the interest for a Shark Diver 38mm in steel, with a steel bracelet, applied markers, and glossy ceramic bezel with BGW9 lume*. Some watch enthusiast friends of mine have shown interest in the model but we need to reach a minimum order quantity of 25 to make a small batch happen, which I why I am reaching out to people here.

The cost would be approximately the same cost as the regular Shark Diver 38mm in blasted titanium.

I created some preview images. Custom hands, custom casebook engraving as well as a custom dial are possible for the same cost. So feel free to imagine your own watch, share your designs and/or ideas here and see if we can all agree on a specific model that we can submit to Helson for a quote.

Please vote in the poll to express either your overall interest (or lack thereof!), or your firm intention to actually purchase this model in the future (you would fall in this category if you thought "take my money!"). The poll is just for statistics, to see how easily we would be able to reach the minimum order quantity of 25.

I hope you'll have fun looking at the pictures. Personally, I think this would be a perfect Shark Diver for me, but feel free to suggest anything you would like!

*One main advantage of Superluminova BGW9 is that it looks white during daytime contrary to the C3 while being 95% as bright. It is an advantage on this watch, given the large lumed surface on Shark Divers. It always bothered me that they looked yellow during the day. With BGW9 you get a clean white daylight look and a more modern-looking blue glow at night.

About the 38mm size: Shark Divers wear 2mm larger than their size, and I can attest that rule of thumb is true. That's why 38mm seems to me like a perfect size because it would look, feel and wear like a 40mm.
If it had all 60 minutes on the bezel I'd be interested.
Good point.

I would possibly be interested...

I had the 38 and it felt just a tad small, but I do like the better proportions of the lugs...

The other thing I didn't quite like was the grey collar of the grade 1 titanium. So steel and with a bracelet would be definite advantages.

Right now I am about to give the SD40 a chance... It took Fedex two days to get it from HK to Amsterdam, and now it's already spent 3 days stuck in Dutch customs...

I think you want a different watch my friend...

Full Ti would be $$$ and I think the OP's desire - and that of others like myself - is the chance to get a No Date SD, because iirc nearly all the other SD have dates.

Steel / 38 / applied / No Date should be considered the fixed parameters of this project. It's the other details that are open for alterations.

Thanks for the feedback so far. In my mind, the invarables are indeed the size (38mm), the materials (steel), the absence of a date window. The 4 o’clock position always looked awkward to me. I would be actually okay with a 6 o’clock date window, but am afraid it will raise costs since it would require a custom date wheel.
I do like titanium, but the sanding makes it look like matte plastic, and the lack of a matching bracelet are making me prefer good old stainless steel.
The question has been answered but yes, it would be the same height as the regular 38mm, 11.4mm which is nice and super wearable.
