FYI
product code: SBDX017
upgrades:
  1. lume lasts 60% longer
  2. hard coating applied on the case partially
  3. signed crown
  4. newly formulated rubber strap

price is 20k JPY more than the sbdx001 officially
but if you purchase one from rakuten global, the price diff could be 50k

Will you pay 50k more for the newcomer?
btw, "001" sounds more awesome than "017" IMO

Any word on how much they have changed the bracelet.
That 60% lume increase must be impressive the lume is already some of the best.

I like that there's a signed crown now, but that laser etched Prospex logo looks kinda cheap to me. Otherwise looks about the same, and that's not a bad thing at all.

I did not think the new 300m MM 017 had a sapphire crystal, but rather hardlex like older SBDX001 version. Please confirm. Thank you.

Does anyone know how Seiko gets their lume to kick such serious ass? Is it a unique compound that others don't have access to or is it lume thickness? What exactly is it?? TIA.

I think you'll find that diver1954 was being sarcastic and suggesting that Seiko didn't go far enough with the upgrades and should have included a sapphire crystal on the new MM300. The 017 is definitely hardlex.
I'm afraid you are right
Luckily enough the dude didn't insult anyone this round

So what's the cost in USD of the new mm300?
I'm too lazy for doing the conversion myself, I'm Italian after all :D

Overall, I'm not sure I would have paid the extra money, had not already owned a MM300. Added lume performance ? Sounds great but the one on the old model was already more than good enough for me. Signed crown ? I never understood why people asked for that, and I much prefer the clean looks of the old one. DiaShield treatment ? Ah, now we're talking! But where is it applied? The case itself ? not really needed but not bad. The buckle ? That would be a real plus since the original in titanium is a scratch magnet.

But even if they dia-shielded the buckle, would I pay the extra 50k yens depends only on how much it'd cost to get a DiaShield version of the buckle... ;-)
