i'm not even a watcher wearer
i'm a "why-wear-a-watch-when-i-have-a-cellphoner"

but i like forums because i like giving people a piece of my mind.

i bough the yellow b2100 at the gshock store in nyc because EVERYWHERE ELSE WAS SOLD OUT!!!, of which btw there are NO video tutorials. lol. i bought it for my brother and i was going to tell him the watch is a "bruce lee yellow". i figured that would hook him. so i was playing with it to set it up and found it frustrating as hell and i hated the watch. i'm not good with learning from text so i was looking for videos but people who do tutorials sometimes overlook things. anyway there are no tutoirals on the b2100 but i figured it out and i love the watch now, so i decided to keep the bruce lee. i am going to give my brother a bruce lee yellow dw-5600rec-9jf instead.

now i want to buy more. nothing ridiculously expensive. i plan to get the sakura ga-100tcb 1ajr,,,the awf-m100sbp-1ajf blue paisley,,,and the silver/black gmy-b5000-1jf,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,for now. maybe later the protrek prg-30-5jf and gbd-200

unfortunately i have small wrists so i'm very limited, handicapped more like,,,but i'm going to try and get away with the biggest possible without looking insane. the sakura is pretty f'ing huge at 51mm

so here's why i like casio. i think casio has brilliant designers. i think it's found a niche. it knows it's demographic, breaks down the problem, and designs watches that have a hook. i think gshocks are viscerally addictive. casio figured it out.

anyway,,,that's my story. all to say i'm going to be asking some really basic basic questions
1,,,like why is there a bar under the rcvd and does it ever go away? i had to finegle around to get it to disappear

You should read the manual to learn all the features of your watch.

The ”RCVD“ indicator means your watch received a radio signal to sync it to the atomic clock. You want this indicator to be on.

Lots more here:

yeah...i'm TERRIBLE with text manuals. my brain shuts down. that's why i look for videos. i'm a visual

yeah,,i'm a visual person and my brain shut down if it has to read instruction. i DID in fact download the pdf. fortunately there was a diagram that explained how to go through the sequence of the setup. that's how i got me eureka moment. lol

Welcome!

Above the RCVD you mean?
It means that you received the radio signal. Every night your watch will looking for a time signal and try to sync your watch to that signal. If successful, the bar appear, if not it will go away and will try the following night. As long as it is there, you watch will be exactly on time.

ok. so basically it's telling me i'm connected. i knew it was some kind of bluetooth indicator but i was worried that always being there meant it was continually searching and therefore draining battery

My plan was to buy one Casio watch... and then.... Well... You've been warned! LOL!

Enjoy the ride! You are on the right forum!

As for the big watches... you'll acclimate to them. Don't worry about what other people think. If you like it, wear it like a boss!

yeah...lol i was looking at the gbdh1000-1a7 and my eyes just decided to leave my head and go BOING.
but damn...63.0 mm x 55.0 mm x 20.4 mm is unholy!!!

however,,,this is more sensible. it's way cheap, extremely gaudy, and something i could stare at all day.............lord help me
