Neil Armstrong wore a Wittnauer All proof watch for the Gemini 8 mission.
Here, although a little grainy you can see it on his wrist after the hatch has been sprung open.
Armstrong wore the watch as a tribute to his friend Jimmie Mattern who 33 years earlier had worn the watch in his attempt to break the world record for aerial circumnavigation of the globe.
However the attempt ended in a crash landing in Siberia. Mattern was eventually rescued by Eskimos. Although Mattern failed in his record circumnavigation the All proof did manage to circle the world many times on the wrist of Neil Armstrong.
