At the risk of stirring up the proverbial...have a look at this beauty.
Posted by a 'facebook friend' last night.
FEBRUARY 1969 6139-6000...and Zenith still claim that they had the world's first automatic chronograph.
'El Primero'???...'El Segundo' or 'El Tercero' more like it! :-d

That's glorious! Brand new, still with the tag, a real prize.
Sure is...this guy regularly posts up examples from his collection in this sort of condition.
In the text below, ALWAYS in caps 'NOT FOR SALE'.
Invariably, almost always the first question is "Is it for sale...and how much?" :-d

That packaging looks incredibly bright and fresh for being almost 48 years old.

Sheesh! Almost too good to believe. Seiko should make them now. They would sell well.

Of course, they would charge $800US for it.

This watch looks amazing. The tags don't even look aged.

I'm not sure this is a chronograph, still looks awesome. Seiko should make a Seiko Vintage brand and do only re-releases on it.

Edit - actually...

"In 1969, ‘5 Sports’ Speedtimer was introduced.
It was the world’s first automatic chronograph."

and look at that watch...

Amazing what a nice, dry storage space away from light can do.
I have a fair amount of vintage packaging, most of it shows it's age to some degree.
But this little (incomplete) set from around the same time...actually, a little earlier (1967) is pretty mint.
Apart from the missing blue 'rounded' rectangular SEIKO logo on the clear case...it probably had a cardboard outer as well...better keep searchin'! :)

Makes for nice 'propping' for all these photos us WIS seem to take all the time... :-d
