I know, I know. Buying a watch from a non-authorized dealer is generally looked down upon here. And eBay? Normally I'd never buy something like a watch on there. But I've found a few decent deals, and I'd like for the experts to have a quick look to make sure I don't scammed out of some serious (for me) dough.

This Breitling Avenger Seawolf is on sale for $1,895. It comes with the Bakelite box and outer shell, but  no papers. However, his eBay reputation is excellent: 100% Positive, and I viewed over 30 of the completed auctions in his feedback and they're all decently high end watches that the buyers were pleased with.

Here's a B-1 for $1,895. This guy also has excellent feedback, but the watch does not come with anything else. I know this means it's probably used but the pictures look good.

Here's an Aerospace for $1,495 with box and papers.

I know, I'm cheaping out a bit and taking a risk with this. I'd just really like a Breitling as my first nice watch (I'm 20). My father received one as a gift from his company and the first time I saw it, I was hooked!

Any advice about these auctions would be appreciated. Do they look authentic to you? What are some good rules of thumb?

http://www.replicawatchreport.com/news/real-vs-fake/breitling-comparison.html

I compared this to the guide photos on Replica Watch Report, and it looks genuine (and even though it's obviously not new, still an excellent price)

edit: Crap. I just saw this photo of an EXCELLENT Breitling Avenger fake, and I can't tell the difference between this and the official Breitling photo. What's the difference between this photo ( http://www.replicawatchreport.com/replica-watch-gallery/breitling/replica-breitling-avenger.html ) and the real thing?

I'm so paranoid now!

Hi Speedgraphic, welcome to the forum

They all look genuine to me, and are from reputable sellers

How one can tell if its genuine.. research (like you did) you will train your eye , get the reference numbers in your head and spot replica's more easily. When in doubt .. ask :)

the giveaway for this fake is the 'E' in the reference number , which stands for a titanium watch . the watch shown is clearly stainless steel so something is amiss and wrong

In the past I have called BUSA, given them the Model Number and S/N. They confirm the watch, and the owner. Obviously this assumes pre-owned and papers sent. If a pre-owned is still under warranty, you can transfer ownership through BUSA with a simple letter from the prior owner.

Good luck.
