Hunting watch?

Needs to be fairly matte - color doesn’t matter too much, just not reflective.

no noise (beeps, etc)

good lume.

Easily cleaned. (Needs to be scrubbable)

preferably light, tough, and low profile. Titanium/plastic/something less conductive is better than more conductive.

I wear a resin square while upland bird hunting, which is fine, but it wouldn’t be too good for pig or deer hunting.

Casio G-Shock or Pro Trek will be your best bet, these watches come in variety of case sizes and colors, lightweight and very durable. If you want to go analog, Citizen Promaster Land AT6085-50E or BN0118-04E “Ray Mears”
I shoot guns quite often and participate in pistol competitions, most of the time I am wearing my Citizen PMD56-2951 on NATO strap, the watch is lightweight, durable, and very easy to read; due to its relatively small size, 39mm case and 11mm thick, I can easily cover it with sleeves and there is a very little risk of snagging. Happy Hunting!!!

By "resin square" I assume you mean a G-Shock. Why wouldn't that be good for pig or deer? I've worn my G's while deer and hog hunting a number of times. They work just fine. The animals aren't particularly fussy about your fashion choices.

I'm a bit worried about using the light on my G shock, to see if its legal shooting time/I think mine beeps when I push the button - I know it beeps when I push others.

Depends where I am, but in a tree stand, I don't think the light would be a good idea.

(He's going to be kept around for a few more years, but we have a BIG axis buck running around the farm, who will go on the wall, eventually.)

I don't understand your concern about a one second backlight blip from a watch on your wrist while sitting in a tree stand. Everybody gets into a tree stand while using a flashlight or headlamp, the watch light is completely insignificant if you are concerned about spooking game.

Bertucci A2T Super Classic - Titanium, so it’s lightweight. The finish they use does not reflect light. Tough as nails with the integrated titanium spring bars, and 200M of water resistance with a screw down crown. You could easily scrub it down in the dishwater, if you needed to.

Not sure if it’s the exact same model, but mine has sapphire crystal and a 10 year Lithium battery. I don’t hunt because I have ADD, but mine has been on plenty of fishing trips without any issues.

You should definitely hunt down a Damasko DH 1.0, 2.0 or 3.0 ...

Photos below mostly courtesy of Long Island Watch,
I believe these models have been discontinued but should be possible to track down in The Wild.

Also came in steel gray cases, but the black would be the way to go.
You can also check out their other (non-DH series) watches in black too.

I use a Garmin Fenix 5, whatever the smaller 42mm version is. I enjoy the data.

Yes, agree. B. Kohr, check some Garmin video reviews of the Fenix, Tactix, or Instinct lines. Fenix and Instinct both have lightweight 41-42mm versions now, with toggleable backlight and beeps that you can disable.

I’m not a hunter but could imagine compass, barometer, mapping, waypoints, elevation, sunrise/sunset all potentially useful.

I’ve worn Seiko’s SNK803 deer hunting a couple times. The bead blasted case, flat crystal and matte dial/hands are great for the field.

Admittedly the lume is minimal but I’ve always found it adequate for the job - readable even in the pre-dawn light. YMMV

eta - takes to a scrub in the sink with a fine bristled brush just fine.

How about this? Maratac Field No Date. titanium case, sapphire crystal, screw down crown and case back gives you 100m WR., great Lume. Vance.

I'm an outdoors person and a hunter. My watch of choice for all such activities is a titanium Bertucci. Takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'.

Which one do you have? My best friend's 45th is coming up and I wanna get him a field watch. He's an avid deer hunter (Prez of his club actually)
