Try as I might… I just can’t make myself like them. To me, they just aren’t comfortable. Also to me (just my opinion) make a watch look too much like jewelry and just doesn’t fit my style. How much am I in the minority on this?! Any watch with a bracelet… I’d be taking it off for some kind of strap. I’m afraid I’ll eventually have a box full of unworn discarded bracelets one day! Can I ever truly be a watch enthusiast until I shake this aversion?

It's personal preference, I love a bracelet if it's comfortable. I've become obsessed with having on the fly adjustment though.
There's nothing worse for me than fiddling with a bracelet to get the "perfect" fit, only to find it too tight when your wrist swells or flops around when it contracts.
I personally found MN style straps to be a godsend when temperatures fluctuate a lot, as I barely even notice I have a watch on with the elastic strap conforming to my wrist so well.

You may find bracelets that you like outside of the "affordable" range. Cheap bracelets are the worst.

Whilst initially I find straps comfortable they always end up a bit funky in hot weather or if they are exposed to water and so ultimately I am a "bracelet guy" even though straps do sometimes look better.

In terms of you being in the minority I would say yes you are! - every poll that I have seen on this subject on WUS ends up with bracelets "winning" but that is no reason for you to like them.

I hated bracelets until about two years ago and now I really love them on the right watch. I thought they looked tacky and had 80s scumbag stock broker vibes, not sporty vibes and the ones I had tried on pulled my arm hairs and I felt like I was always aware of them.

Now I have one on both my nicest watch and one of my two work/beater watches. I find it drains water really well, even compared to a tropic strap and I think it will just look better as it gets severely scratched up along with the watch.

Solid, smaller, reasonably thin links that fully articulate make a huge difference in both comfort and looks.

But at the end of the day you don't need to like or use any type of strap or band. Just do what you enjoy.

I was an avowed non-bracelet guy until I got my Oak & Oscar Humboldt GMT. This watch has the most comfortable bracelet I've ever worn-- it never catches hair, doesn't rattle, and has an amazing micro-adjust. It made me realize that a good, quality flat-link bracelet is what I like.

I still prefer leather straps on many of my watches, but I've overcome my aversion to bracelets.

You're not alone. I don't like bracelets either. I find some of them to be quite comfortable (Traska and the G-Shock combi bracelet are standouts) but it's still not my thing. I've accepted that. I do a mix of NATOs, canvas, leather, and rubber.

It helped me get over it that according to my fiancée, "metal bands are for old guys."

I'm not a fan of bracelets either. I have big hands & small (7.25") wrists. Any bracelets have to be sized to go over my ape-like hand & they then rattle about loosely on my school girl wrist!

Bracelets are also a bit "blingy" for my personal taste. I have experimented with mesh bracelets that unclip, getting me over my big hand / small wrist issue, but in most cases I end up swapping them out for a non metal strap. The one exception is my metal Casio, which came on a mesh strap & I can't think of anything else that would suit it.

I suppose it depends on which bracelet. You would often get what you pay for if you go for the cheaper ones. I’ve bought cheap ones and modded them a bit to fit my need and expectations. Definitely not 100% the way I wanted, but quite alright so long as it’s an upgrade from the previous bracelet the watch original came with.

Could you be comfortable with a milanese metal bracelet?

I’m extremely picky about bracelets and they are very much hit or miss for me. I have some that I like, but straps will always be more comfortable. Precise adjustability for sizing is key, and on the fly adjustment is best, but even those two factors aren’t guarantees that I will find it comfortable

I detest the look of metal bracelets. At best they make a watch look bland and anonymous (just an amorphous blob of metal). But often they just make a watch ugly and cheap blingy looking.
