Hey guys,
I mostly post on reddit but have used this site quite a bit in the past and bought a few pieces etc. I posted semi-recently in a thread about straps for divers here, but thought I'd give a bigger post on some of the better pieces I've made and links to all the rest!
I got into strap making mostly due to my dissatisfaction at the range out there, the price, and the stylings. My watch collection is pretty all over the place (LINK HERE) and i wear a ton of dive watches, plus i figured i could learn and enjoy the process along the way. I've been making for a bit less than 6 months, and am still learning with each one I make, mostly about leather, how it works, what you can do with it, and how to pick what leather for what purpose.
I invested maybe $150 ish as far as tools n dye etc go, and around $100 so far on leather, its quite amazing the deals you can get on offcuts btw.
So yeah, I'm based in New Zealand and all the leathers are sourced/purchased here, some of the older ones are vintage from belts, straps and other sources. So far I've made about 25 all up, and the first 10 were disappointing and i wasted some REALLY cool material on them lol, but I think I've gotten a lot better, hopefully you can see the improvement from Gallery 1 to Gallery 2 .
OK, onto some pics - any feedback and comments are welcome, and I'll answer any questions that pop up
Full albums are:
Gallery #1
Gallery #2
I'll start with the one i made today for my Zenith El Primero Rainbow Fly-back
And now some shots of cooler things I've made along the way!
Thanks for looking everyone/anyone - hope you like my style and what I've done thus far!
