Hi Matt,

sorry, it is just junk news, created to generate clicks. likes, money, or whetever, thus not worth to read.

In 1961 quartz clocks were already made since several decades, and Nixie tubes were available since a couple of years. Thus without a link to the patent, not knowing its claims, nobody can estimate whether the inventor lost millions or nothing.

Indeed, as Roland suggests, the value of the patent is only in what it protects, so who's to say that the various Japanese and Chinese knock offs would – or not – have still come into the market. Who knows how he was driving his Nixie tubes, for example? I somehow doubt the the modern equivalents would re-create the much earlier circuitry that the inventor used at the time. As RR says, it's just click bait, written by someone who probably know little about what they are reporting.
